OK. It is described as "a little online record store that sells CDs by independent musicians." And it's the perfect place for you to discover the 'next big thing' before anyone else. Therefore you can sit there with a smug look on your face when your new favourite band nails that multi-platinum album that when you first played it to your mates months previous they dismissed as dross.

So go and have a browse, there are some real talents on there. Enjoy!

Is this going to end up with a big :lock: ????? First time for everything...

CDBaby is ok, but I wouldnt expect to find the next big thing there.. pity with CDBaby is that they are unable to finance decent promotion etc. to take the rcord to the next level. May be good for a presentation, but the approach "next big thing" isn´t very accurate.. I´d rather say, you will find lots of good, independent artists out there, and lots of crap.

who cares about the next big thing, anyway?

I must agree. All too often, especially in recent years, bands/artists that are "the next big thing" aren't all that good.

I guess it really depends on your definition of big though.

Still sounds like a good place to scope out acts.

if i can preview stuff, i'm all for it. i haven't checked out the site yet.

I'm looking now, and it seems as if you can preview all the songs -- at least clips of them. And if you get a cd and don't like it they will return your money if you return the cd within 14 days.

Gotta love a company that sends this as an order confirmation notice! :)

Your CD has been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CD and polished it to make sure it was in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CD into the finest gold-lined box that money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in our private CD Baby jet on this day, Tuesday, November 8th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby. We sure did. Your picture is on our wall as 'Customer of the Year'. We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!
