Here's the thread to post rumors, ruminations, and even legitimate info. about 1990s One-Hit Wonders.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Meredith Brooks ("Bitch")
White Town ("Your Woman")
Primitive Radio Gods ("Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth...")
Deep Blue Something ("Breakfast at Tiffany's")
Dishwalla ("Counting Blue Cars")

My favourite one hit wonders of the 1990s were a group called Gay Dad. They had a song that I can't remember the name of. But it was pretty cool. Yes indeedy!

I should mention also the Ironic song - aka 'How Ironic' by that group whose name I can't remember. About 1996 or so.

You guys already listed a most of mine. ;)

Tony Rich Project ("Nobody Knows")
Cardigans ("Love Fool")

Ahhhhh, I know they only had the one real hit, but The Cardigans are a really, really good band. Check out their two most recent albums. Good stuff.

Deee Lite - groove is in the heart
LaTour - People are still having sex
2 in a room - wiggle it
SOHO - hippy chick
Marcy Playground - sex and candy
Nikki French - total eclipse of the heart
Jesus Jones - right here, right now
Allanah Myles - Black Velvet
EMF - Unbelievable
Green Jelly - 3 little pigs

Their new album "Long Gone Before Daylight" is hands down their best!

Gary Glenn Doyle - "how i killed a man and proceeded to eat his bloody carcus with a spork"

never went far on mainstream charts, but it shook the underground cashba if you know what i mean :sexywink:

vertical horizen had that other song too..."you're a god"...wasn't that popular too?

i think everoyne mentioned the ones i was going to say already

i was just thinking about that dishwalla song yesterday when i was waiting for a bus...this blue car went by about 6 times...i used to like that song a lot...

marcy playground tried to put out a new album a few years later...i forgot the name of the song, but it was played a lot on this station in vermont i used to listen to...but still a one hit wonder

the new radicals broke up after "you only get what you give" was released. very much one hit wonders.

everclear had a song called "one hit wonder"

why is it that this stuff still sounds better to me now than the stuff on the radio currently??

I don't recall the Verve ever getting a US hit other than 'bittersweet symphony'. they had drugs don't work and lucky man in the uk, though. yes, it's a terrible label to have, but it's a great song from an excellent album.

and I have to admit my secret love fro Nicki French's cover of 'total eclipse of the heart'.

i really liked the new radicals.

the verve a one-hit wonder? hmm. well i guess if they only had one "hit" per se, but i dunno if i would consider them in that category.

i kinda liked natalie imbruglia (or however you spell her name) it was just good fun to be able to sing "i'm lying naked on the floor" at the top of your lungs.

no i would definately not call the verve a one hit wonder. but i can see your point being as the rest of their songs didn't get much airplay in the states. lucky man and sonnet made it on coundowns in canada but i think canadian charts tend to have more british bands on them then the american ones.

my favorite one has to be the groove is in the heart. i still love that song.

Actually there are a lot of people like the Verve that only had one "hit" but their collective work is very good and they are looked at as a good, if not great artist with staying power.

Others in that category?

Sinead O'Connor
Greatful Dead
Jimmy Hendrix
there are many other examples if i had a better memory

Radiohead, 'Creep'?????? That's a joke, right?

Bear, good choice of song, but not quite as great IMO as Neil Diamond's 1997 hit 'I killed a drifter to get an erection'.

So what ever happened to that Radiohead band? Are they still around?

Thanks, brettig. Indeed, OMC sang "How Bizarre."

its a shame he got busted with that real weird porn - the kind you cant send in the mail.

Verve Pipe - "The Freshmen"

I still like that song.

Actually, I still like the majority of the songs that have been mentioned here....
