That is so sad. The cat was born like that.....wow.

My dad had a black cat named Willy, it came home under his Volvo from the service station and we kept the poor little thing. He lived to be 22, but when we'd had him only a couple years he was in a catfight and lost his eye to infections. He was the most loveable cat and he and my dad were inseparable. We used to call the cat one eyed willy.

That is almost as sad as the 7 day old kitten I saw a few years ago that did not have an external opening for it's urethra - was making urine but couldn't pee it out. It seriously looked like the blueberry girl from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - a huge round ball with arms and legs sticking out that couldn't touch the ground because it's bladder was so huge I was shocked that it's bladder hadn't burst by that point

Was the poor little thing curable? (I probably don't want to know the answer to that.)

OK, the one eye thing is weird, but I'm almost more weirded out by the fact that the kitten's eye is open. It would probably look more normal if the eye was still shut like it should be.

I think the cyclops cat is cute. It's a shame he didn't make it; that would've been an awesome pet.

The bladder story is awful, though.

Unfortunately this was when I was working at the Humane Society, the lady who brought it in surrendered it to us. I was only a tech at the time, the doctors who were there didn't think they could make an opening that would permanently stay open and we didn't really have the resources to have her see a specialist. We ended up putting her to sleep

Poor kittens

I'm more saddened by baby animals than baby humans

Hoax?

Veracity of 'Cyclops Kitten' Photo Questioned

Quote:
NEW YORK Apropos of Friday the 13th, a number of readers have written in to say a photo purporting to show a one-eyed kitten distributed through AP is some sort of hoax. AP's most recent story on the "cyclops kitten" says it went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the photo is real. Still, questions persist. Here are a few. But first, an interesting letter on memoir fabrications from published author and syndicated columnist Lisa Messinger.
Here is another cat from Oregon a couple of months earlier:

Oregon cat born with two faces

I guess some people get real creative with their digital imaging software.
