So, I just turned the magical 25 last week. Yeah, yeah, happy birthday, I know.

I thought that car insurance was supposed to decrease substantially after you turned 25? Well, I just got my new policy and noticed that my rates decreased $2.15 a month. What the f is that?

So, who pays the most car insurance here?

I'm a driver for 8 years with no tickets or accidents. Live in the confines of NYC and pay $2400 a year for a fucking 2001 Ford Focus.

I pay $650/yr full coverage on a 1988 Ford Mustang.

It used to be higher but I've been a good girl.

Ha! Everyone hates me for this, but when I started out, I had an old VC commodore, I was on my P's. It was about $1000 a year, then after it was written off, we got the EL Falcon and it was $1600, this time with the NRMA. We had it for a year, then upgraded to the XR8, at which time we had all our house and contents insurance with them, so over the phone, they immediately upped it to 60% no claim bonus and made it only $1800 a year

If this doesnt make sense, that price for 2 under 25's with a 'sports' car, a V8 at that, we are so laughing. Especially cos no one else would touch us when we rang around for quotes-except for AAMI who said if they WERE to offer it to us, it would be um, about $6000. I have a friend who is over 25, has a WRX, and pays over $5000 a year...

$148 CND per month for a 1994 VW Golf: 4-door, standard, been in previous accident. Suddenly, I feel lucky.

I pay only $300 a year.... But, I just have a simple Ford Escort 1990, nothing fancy you see. And it's just a half insurance or what you call it. If I crash it I won't repair it anyway, I paid 400 dollars for it so....

Me and cars, no good combination, I promise!

er........I pay ?108 a month......so like, if that makes sense, then ...er....hooray....

I pay $3002 a year for a 2000 Honda Civic, and I come from a small town.

I have an awesome Ford Focus as well

It's a 2000 and I'm just about 21, my first car (if that matters), no tickets and I *think* it's 1200 a year.

Well, when I was 18, to get bare minimum coverage, it would cost $1200 every six months. This was on an old V4 car that couldn't even go 70 mph (the highway speed limit in Michigan). I had a perfect driving record. Michigan has no-fault insurance, which is the biggest scam since Miss Cleo.

OK - don't hate me because I'm . . . an insurance agent!

I pay $1080 a year for two cars with full coverage and all the extras!

Wow! I can't believe how much some of you have to pay! That's criminal! I never knew I had it so good. $90 bucks/month ($1080/year) for 2 vehicles.
-1991 Honda Accord
-1990 Toyota pick-up

I guess it pays to drive old cars. (plus, no car payments!!!!)

Well, I'm finally seeing the up-side to ageing. I'm 41 and pay $1200 a year for a 2002 Ford Focus. Of course, my driving record is deceptive. Having lived in NYC for all of my adult life until 5 years ago, I maintained a drivers license but never drove. Technically, I've only been driving for 5 years, but since I've been licensed for 25 years and didn't drive, I have a 25 year perfect driving history.

Oh yeah - and TheU2 - check your policy term. If you turned 25 within the term you won't turn 25 to them until the next policy renewal. A little insurance quirk.

Also - if you didn't already know most insurance companies use a credit background check - so be careful with the credit cards. And in most cases if you call and tell them you are thinking of shopping around your coverage, they will try to make you a better deal. The power of the consumer!

Except in North Carolina - where the state sets the rates - and in Maryland where the state doesn't allow any exceptions.

Good luck

I have Geico. Hook me up with a policy that is less than $2000/year.

I have a clean record and my zip is 10312.

I think I pay about $200 for 6 months.
biggrin.gif
And the reason why is that my car title and registration is under my parents name, they have my car on their insurance, I'm listed as the primary driver, and they pay the insurance and then I pay them back. I drive an 89 Nissan Maxima with over 200,000 miles on it too, so that may help.

Car insurance does suck! Mine used to be $400 a year, but after I was in a minor car accident a year and a half ago and got a new car, it went up to $600 a year
frown.gif

Prepare yourselves. $270/mo for a single driver. That's $3240/year. Yik. HOWEVER, as of May, I will own my car and be able to pare down on that super duper insurance I'm required to have by my leasing company. YIK. I love living in a good neighborhood, but sometimes it really SUCKS!

Muahauah yes we should. Mine is a black zx3 and I have green ground effect lights which entertain me to no end. My boyfriend wants to get me an exhaust for my b-day but I think I'd look sketch driving around with a loud Focus.

I got alot of miles on it, though....around 26,000 and I've had the car about 16 months. Blargh.
