Yeah, people really underrated this film. The original had the squeaky clean Gregory Peck character, whereas the remake gives a much more flawed hero in Nick Nolte, who has cheated on his wife and betrayed the attorney-client privilege. Scorsese explores Catholic guilt again in a very interesting way. Robert DeNiro is OUT OF CONTROL. The scene between him and Juliette Lewis in the school auditorium is one of the all-time greats.
