Canada just got ROBBED!!!!

gah!

If anyone watched the pairs figure skating finals tonite at the Olympics, you know what I'm talking about. Give me one good reason why the pair who skated perfectly tonite, was "on", and won the crowd was judged second to a flawed performance without half as much life.

If I was Canadian, I'd demand a recall or something. This bites!

This is stinky. What a load of trash. Not much I can do about it though. Although those stupid judges should enjoy some backlash a lot.

Thank you, Sula! (((SULA)))

Blarg and GAO and every other internet swearword to those USELESS judges. And yes, we DO demand a recount, but you don't get that in skating. I am so pissed I could scream!!!!!

I'm still in shock. There was NO DOUBT in my mind when Sale and Pelletier stepped off the ice that they were the champions of that competition. I cannot believe this. Well actually, I can since it's happened before, but I don't understand how it's tolerated.

Anyone else find it intriguing how the breakdown went in terms of which countries went with which pair? Seems old loyalties die hard. Politics. bah!

((Mrs. Edge)) Well we all know who was the best tonite anyways.

I feel your pain, my Canadian brothers and sisters. I loved Sale and Pelletier. And I felt badly for Ina and Zimmerman, too. They were fabulous.

This is the just the most absurd thing I've ever seen. The Russians actually looked embarrassed to be standing atop the podium. Don't get me wrong, I like the Russian team. But Sale and Pelletier were the best. I hate those judges.

I also think Ina and Zimmerman got the shaft big time. I think they should have been rated higher in both events. They should have been up on that podium. And I'm not saying that just because I think John Zimmerman is hot...

Thanks, you guys for being so supportive! You know, sometimes I wonder what's the point of working so hard and even being perfect when you still get nowhere. This is totally discouraging for any athlete who wants to pursue their dreams. Reminds me of a lyric "I gave you everything you ever wanted, it wasn't what you wanted..."

Ooooh! They're playing WOWY on the radio right now! Talk about appropriate!

And by the way, I was totally impressed with Ina and Zimmerman, and I have always thought that he is a TOTAL BABE!!!! I meant to post that last night, but I was too upset to think properly.

And now, for those of us who wanted to hear our National Anthem played.....

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Who would have ever thought that my warm, humid hometown of Birminagham, Alabama would produce an Olympic skater? He skates a few miles away from my house.

And the Canadians were robbed from everything I've heard.

It's just incredibly unfair. Figure Skating is the most biased friggen sport.

I've seen enough figure skating in my life to know what's good, acceptable, fine, wonderful, technically coreect, etc. From a technical point of view, the Canadians were superior. Their Russian counterparts wobbled the throw triple salchow. He fell on his Triple Toe Loop.

The Canadians were wonderful. The were technically sound. Jumps, throws, spins, speed.

From an artistic point of view the Canadians displayed so much emotion and passion. Granted, hey, the Russian were good. Good enough for second. There was no doubt in my mind that the Canadians were better. I've seen Jamie and David skate that program before, at the worlds, where they earned 6.0 in Artistic Presentation. How is it possible that in the Olympics, where they skated EVEN BETTER than they did at worlds, they only earn 5.8s? They won the crowd, they won our hearts.

Love Story always did have a sad ending, just not a criminal one.

I applaud Jamie and David for expressing their love for each other. They were perfect, really.

This is what the results SHOULD have been, in a perfect world:

1. Canada
2. Russia
3. USA
4. Russia
5. China

Yes, Ina & Zimmerman skated their hearts out too!

Yes I agree wholeheartedly. Thing is, this is nothing new. Figure skating has always been political and I think the winners were decided before anyone stepped on the ice.
Case and point- what the hell were the Chinese couple doing accepting an award last night? They were terrible. Mistake after mistake... Ina and Zimmerman were more robbed from the bronze than Sle and Pelletier were robbed from the gold. But in the end... they chose this sport, and as Pelletier said- If he wasn't comfortable putting his fate in the hands of others, he would be a skiier and race against the clock.

They won a SILVER MEDAL!! Let's not let that pass by us!! I for one, congratulate them on their extraordinary effort!
