Yeah, there are. The crux of the argument is this: liberals started the whole communist paranoia in the 1930s and when they realized it made them look bad, they blamed the entire thing on McCarthy. McCarthy was actually a guy who was looking out for America and democracy and freedom, and liberals are the scum of the earth.

I wish I was kidding.

then there are the people who hate communists/socialists and think he was a hero :)

I found the article. I'll type up a quote:

"Once again, we return to the seminal question: Was McCarthy a villain or an American hero? The depends on your state of mind, your heart, your actions, your worldview of history. Simply put, if you sympathize with or aid those who would undermine the laws and ideas America was founded upon or her people both here and abroad, you were a sworn enemy of Sen. Joseph McCarthy. However, if you love America and the Constitution and seek the best for this country and her people, you are a blood brother of McCarthy."

Some people are unfamiliar with this concept of "facts", aren't they?

I mean, holy shit.

seriously this woman's voice is ridiculous

unfortunately i only have 4 songs by her and it would cost 70$ to get all her cds, not including the compilation. and amazon doesn't have them all as mp3s so i'd have to do itunes.

This is one of the creepiest things I have ever read. Hyper-nationalism for the monumentally epic fail.

Ann Coulter: "I know he [McCarthy] got a bad rap because there are no monuments to Joe McCarthy. Liberals had to destroy McCarthy because he exposed the entire liberal establishment as having sheltered Soviet spies ... There's always a conflict of interest when people who don't really like America are called upon to defend it."

Vazza, wait, you want to buy music? I thought all you did was ask for downloads. Who knew.

Of course I don't really like America: there's 50 percent of the country that agree with you enough to vote Republican. How can I like a country that stupid?

This sort of shit about McCarthy amazes me. Pick up any textbook here about American history or that features McCarthy in any form, and the depiction of him is never flattering. It's not even up for debate. But then the US fanatical far right never ceases to amaze me.

And, of course, Australia has its own historical revisionist "fuck the facts" lunatics. Some of what's written about the Aborigines is little more than triumphalist European racism dressed up with a thin veneer of academia.

American history? Ann Coulter? Really, guys? I come here for the expressed purpose of avoiding FYM.

That's strange. I can see it.

I get the first line, then it tells me to register. I can't be arsed. I'm doing dull as hell readings for uni right now anyway. I should have done this ... two weeks ago.

This thread, unlike FYM, has some sanity left.

FYM seems to be slipping further by the day. There isn't even much to bring sad, pathetic lulz any more, just tired tumbleweeds.

Yeah, there's no drama there anymore either...especially now that Diamond has been suspended from that section.
