the original black and white version of "the manchurian candidate" with frank sinatra.

"the station agent"-great indie flick

"the war room"-great documentary featuring george stephanopoulos ( ) and james carville running the '92 clinton/gore campaign.

"the manchurian candidate"
don't waste time on the remake

"the station agent"
great little film
will make one reconsider stereotypes
some may find the pacing a bit slow
i liked it a lot

i find the original manchurian candidate was more stressful and suspensful (i mean that in a good way)

i love the remake but i spend too much time drooling over liev schreiber

To Kill a Mockingbird with Gregory Peck

Fantastic film.

Would "Equilibrium" with Christian Bale count?
sure

i like sifi alot

it is on cable quite a bit, too

another Bale film

The Machinist

The producers of the film claim that Christian Bale dropped from about 180 pounds in weight down to about 120 pounds in weight to make this film. They also claim that Bale actually wanted to drop down to 100 pounds, but that they would not let him go below 120 out of fear that his health could be in too much danger if he did. His diet consisted of one can of tuna and an apple per day. His 63 pound weight loss is said to be a record for any actor for a movie role.

more amazing than what dinero did for Raging Bull

Great film

it was main stream in its day

i guess one has to seek it out now

i think it is robert duval's film debut.
small part at the end
big character to the story, though

David Lynch's "Lost Highway"

Not for the faint-hearted. Prepare to have your view of cinema changed.

"The Parallax View" - brilliant paranoia 1970's thriller

Also two great Brit-flicks - "Withnail and I" and "The Long Good Friday"

I saw station agent too...loved it.
Lost Highway was freaky..as was blue velvet and mullhollad dr.

id have to say one that you may not have seen that is super would be Box of Moonlight w/ John Torturro and Sam Rockwell
They have showed it on Bravo a couple times..it most likely wont be at your local video store...but its a great flick
I bought my own copy of it a couple years ago..hadda order it special

Bravo and IFC show all kinds of different things that no one else sees. I love those channels.

IFC
and
Sundance

Bravo
in my area has commercials and dubs out swear words
that destroys the directors vision and ruins the film

Yes a case of life imitating art as regards Robert Blake's recent court case? Totally bizarre.

I know whatcher mean about Long Good Friday mate.

Bought it

last year.

Watched it many times

recently.

Great pick.

cool. :D

did you get the special edition with option of watching the movie in the correct running order?

i thought that was a nice addition and helped bring the story together.

the only reason i'm looking forward to the new batman (other than christian bale  ) is because chris nolan is directing.

I got the special edition but I never tried that yet. Maybe I'll do that this week. Thanks.

my two all-time favorite movies:

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Lost In Translation

some more:
Osama (Afghanistan/Netherlands/Japan/Ireland/Iran)
Kolya (Czech Republic)
Japon (Mexico/Germany/Netherlands, actually, my favorite Mexican movie)
Amores Perros (Mexico)
Los Olvidados (Spain/Mexico)
Perro Andaluz (c'mon, is Dali and Buñuel working together!, it's the weirdest short film ever made)
Dogville (Denmark/Sweden/France/Norway/Netherlands/Finland/Germany/USA/UK)
Ma Vie En Rose (France/Belgium/UK)

for now :)

American History X with Edward Norton.

When you get past the violence and language, it is conceptually a brilliant brilliant movie.

I got it. Amazing directing to create the one continuous shot but at times I found it boring.

Still an interesting film though.

'McVicar'

With The Who's Roger Daltry in the starring role.
True story of a man who went to prison in England in the 70's, but with the help of his inmate (Adam Faith) they dig a tunnel in a bid to escape.
The escape comes off, but only just - and with only McVicar managing to break free.
He re-unites himself with his wife and child, but can he remain hidden AND abstain from more criminal ways?

Watch the film (if ur bothered) - and find out!!!
