Ordinary Decent Criminal. Kevin Spacey is just brilliant. If it doesn't make you laugh, there's something wrong with you.
Benny & Joon. A truly delightful and lovely movie, and again should make you laugh.
Where The Heart Is. Book is always better, but this was lovely.

I found To Kill A Mockingbird for $10 in my local supermarket. I'd only read the book, but loved it, so I risked buying it, and it paid off. Everyone should see this.

Yep, I concur with Diamond's choice of the Professional - Jean Reno is fantastic!

Last night I saw CRASH - Wow, wow, wow! I cried and laughed in equal amounts - a brilliant movie...by a Canuck of course

Great film, all the way. I enjoy Kassovitz.

Le Bonheur (Agnes Varda)
Shopping For Fangs (Quentin Lee and Jusin Lin...I think)
A Man Escaped (Bresson)
Fitzcarraldo (Herzog)
Throne of Blood (Kurosawa)

Those're some good starting points to get into some amazing directors (with the exception of Lee and Lin, who I think are pretty irrelevant beyond this film) and some of the greatest films of all time.

The Professional

also:
- Saved!
- Shattered (@ least 2 movies w/this name - I'm referring to the Tom Berenger/Greta Scaachi/Corbin Bersen/Bob Hoskins version)

There're plenty others... I just always go blank when asked about them straightforward. I usually remember them better when sitting around talking about movies I've seen. Seems the ole' brain cells work better in conversation.

Crash
The Mayor Of Sunset Strip (Documentary)
Taxi Driver
Cinema Paradiso
Testament
Coney Island (Documentary by Ric Burns)
A Trip To Bountiful
Smoke
Sling Blade
Avalon
and dozens of others...
