Okay, over here in the states we refer to the trunk and the hood of a car, over in Britain (and maybe all of Europe? not sure...) it's the bonnet and the boot. Is it just me, or does the British version just make more sense? I mean, I understand the hood part, but where did we get trunk?

Yes, I know it's a weird question, but maybe someone can shed some light on the subject.

 This is how I see it, Martha...

The bonnet is in the front...and bonnet and a hood are kind of the same thing, like something you put over your head...

and a boot is on the opposite end...like with a person, your bonnet would be at one end (your head) and the boot at the other (on your foot).
