Now we arrive in our second consecutive French location. Pity Me. Why? First Die, now Bitche. It is located close to the German border and derives its name from a stronghold, the Bytis Castrum, which stands on a rock above the town. Bill Bailey has commented on the BBC about the comical nature of seeing a sign reading "you are now leaving Bitche". As for us? Right now, we're arriving, Bitche.

Fuckyeah! I'm a republican but I ain't working on the Queen's birthday holiday. I'm a proud Australian....

Yeah, I support a republic, but we better not lose the Queen's Birthday holiday when we get rid of the monarchy. Keep it to appease all the distraught monarchists, AND add a new holiday to celebrate becoming a republic.

That's all anyone ever does, is bitch, bitch, bitch....

I remember on the Vertigo Tour, for a while the setlist party threads were named "Setlist Bitch and Party" rather than "Setlist Watch and Party" ...

Well You people dont have a big sister that hogs the computer all day and night!

:tsk: Ashley. :tsk:

Though she hasn't joined the 300 Posts Club yet either!

Given your respective purity scores, I can understand why there's some disagreement.

I came to Melbourne University simply because it's one of the top 20 universities in the world, and the best one in Australia. Though I don't doubt Ali's going to chime in here and claim Monash is somehow better.

Um. Monash is somehow better.

I love the warm! We have a beach here but we can only go to it like 3 months of the year which sucks.. so I need to move somewhere warm with a beach. :D

Is political science like really hard, or just boring? What can you do with history though.. I mean besides like teaching it, what else?

I love the cold. Winter is made of win. And if you want somewhere warm with a beach, may I suggest the hellhole of Queensland? Ooh yeah, I'm SUCH a salesman for Queensland.

Hard and boring. Well, I find it pretty easy for the most part, really, but most people seem fairly intimidated by it, especially the theory. And many political scientists are VERY dry writers. If you find a field you're passionate about, then that's great and you can do a lot of awesome stuff, but if you float aorund all unsure of what to specialise in like I did, then it's not so enjoyable. As for History, it is mainly an academic thing - there also tend to be roles in consultancy and researching claims and such. I aim to stay within academia and research/teach it at university level.

Ash told me that when the new U2 c.d comes out Im gonna have to listen to it or else Ill have nothing to talk about here.

Given half of the people here have probably already decided that they love/hate the new album without even listening to it, you could probably go and post in new album threads without hearing a single note and nobody will be any the wiser.

I know some people posted in the Coldplay Viva La Vida thread despite having not heard the album!

Yessssssssss, good guess, but then again, why the hell would anyone move to Houston if they weren't in petroleum?

Ooh. Is he a mediterranean-looking guy called Andre?? Cos that would be too-freaky a coincidence.

(This guy was doing his PhD while I was an undergrad, he used to go on the dinosaur dig down in Inverloch each summer.)

Ashley likes the cold too. I cant take it. What/Where is Queensland. And if its a hellhole I dont really wanna move there.

Yeah I couldnt take that. My cousing wants to teach history at like a middle school level and i was like ew why. Middle schoolers are a pain in the ass. But thats cool at the University level. Is that hard?

Never let the facts get in the way of a good self-indulgent rant.

Nah, sorry my mate's a bloodnut called Dave  He must love the Houston summers!

Haha. I think Ill just say I like it to avoid a fight with Ashley. :applaud:

Oh my goodness I was driving home from work the other day and I was listening to the radio and this song came on and I had heard it before but didnt really know what it was.. so I was singing along to it and after it the guy was like that was viva la vida by coldplay, so I called ashley adn told her and she laughed at me.

We Monash graduates get taught to think outside the box, and arbitrary post limits.

Conformist.

Melbourne University graduates get taught respect. :tsk:

Oh, by the way, I nearly pissed myself laughing recently when I walked past somebody going on about how "stupid" and "confusing" it is that there is a Monash Road in Melbourne University. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised though, that people haven't been taught local history and don't know who John Monash was ...

Nah, sorry my mate's a bloodnut called Dave  He must love the Houston summers!

 Ah well, it was worth a shot.

This Andre guy missed winter for three years... he spent the Australian winters in Russia, working in his field area, then came back to Aus when it got cold in Russia. His first winter in Texas was something of a shock to his system. :giggle:

Also, bonus points for using the term "bloodnut".

I need to do these damn dishes......

Queensland is the northernmost of the eastern Australian states. I lived on the Gold Coast and Brisbane for about 9.5 years - both are in the southeastern corner and are moronically sunny, like 250+ sunny days a year. In 2006, not a single day had a maximum temperature below 20C in Brisbane (I think that's above 70F).

Yeah, proper teaching, like primary or high school, would be fucking hard. But in university, you just stand in a lecture theatre and prattle on for a couple of hours a week and then go off and do your research. Well, I suppose it's not quite like that, buuut ... lazy Arts faculty staff ...

I'll take the cold over this heat and humidity anyday.

Gonna be in the 90's. At least I'll be inside all day.

Speaking of which, time to go there now.

Yep. Wrapping up warm is so much better than being suffocated by a wall of humidity.
