Here are the top-10 albums of 2003 as chosen by our panel of critics:

1. Coldplay, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" (Capitol)
2. Queens of the Stone Age, "Songs for the Deaf" (Interscope)
3. Wilco, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" (Nonesuch)
4. Norah Jones, "Come Away With Me" (Blue Note)
5. Bruce Springsteen, "The Rising" (Columbia)
6. Steve Earle, "Jerusalem" (E-Squared/Artemis)
7. Beck, "Sea Change" (Geffen)
8. Solomon Burke, "Don't Give Up on Me" (Fat Possum/Epitaph)
9. Doves, "The Last Broadcast" (Capitol)
10. The Dixie Chicks, "Home" (Open Wide/Monument)

What do you guys think of this list?

good to see Steve Earl in there
Solomon Burke should have been higher on that list
the rest sort of bores me

beck should have been number 1, the rest doesnt really interest me. i bought the last broadcast and the latest from coldplay and *yawn im looking forward to selling these cds.

at least they didnt pick mainstream crap arists that are selling tones of records.

I'm surprised Eminem isn't on there...

As for what is there.... I agree with it, but I don't know anything about Steve Earle and Solomon Burke...and I haven't heard the whole Norah Jones CD. But everything else is a winner to me

:| I feel bad ranking things, though

The Dixie Chicks? The freakin' Dixie Chicks?! No Tori Amos, no David Gray, no Ryan Adams, no Pearl Jam, no Beth Orton or Morcheeba or even EMINEM for Chrissakes but the DIXIE CHICKS???

Well, they got #1 right! Coldplay had by far the best album of the year! Great show as well!

Hello,

Of that list I only have Solomon Burke and Bruce Springsteen and I agree they should be on that list. Solomon Burke maybe should be even higher, it's a better album than The Rising, IMO. As for Coldplay, I do want to buy that album as the 2 singles off it sound great (and I have the track Amsterdam on some sampler).
Those year-end list are always a bit arbitrarily. At least they didn't include Justin Timberlake so it isn't all that bad. :)

C ya!

Marty
