Not surprised you don't know The Bats, Blam Blam Blam, or especially Riot 111, whose sole release was an anarcho-punk three track EP.

But I think you'd like Midnight Oil. Imagine U2 from Australia, only writing leftie political tracks, with a towering, bald, insane frontman who is now not only a Member of Parliament, but actually the Environment Minister.

"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

Midnight Oil performed at the Sydney Olympics closing ceremony, actually. They performed in black clothes with "sorry" written on them as a protest against John Howard, who wouldn't apologise to the Aborigines. Midnight Oil has had a very close relationship with the Aboriginal cause and they even toured the Outback for a few months in 1986.

The Dead Heart is a clear illustration of their stance:

We don't serve your country, don't serve your king,
Know your customs, don't speak your tongue
White man came, took everyone
[...]
White man came, took everything
We carry in our hearts the true country
And that cannot be stolen
We follow in the steps of our ancestry
And that cannot be broken

I shall. By the way, I so enjoyed some of the Tracy Chapman stuff you showed me on YouTube that I downloaded her first album. I really like her political songs.

You're on crack. The music's the problem. Edge's guitar tone is just fucked. It doesn't chime. It sounds like shit.

But you enjoyed LRM earlier, so ...

I still can't believe Bono named his second daughter Memphis Eve to correct that wrong lyric.
