Nor have I heard my father comment on religion either, for that matter. He really is pretty straightforward.

Never? Not even the war? Or the economy?

i totally agree. i can sort of understand why some wouldn't vote in every election, but at least get out there and vote for the big three: mayor, governor, and president. people may not think who the mayor of your city is makes a difference, but believe me, it affects my daily life just as much as who the president is.

Lucky for me, my parents refused to discuss politics with me for many years so as to allow me to form my own beliefs. I've never felt restricted, I just don't talk about it with them. My mom and I have only recently talked about it, and in five times doing so, we've yet to agree on anything.

With the economy, very general things, nothing political. Never on the war. No idea on his opinions or anything. We just don't talk about it. He'd much rather discuss who's been playing well for the Phillies lately.

The first election I voted in was 1988.

Yes, I'm that old.

But at least NSW is, too.

My dad is always complaining about the world at large. Most recently, he's been crying racism over the fact that 92% of North Carolina blacks voted for Obama.

It's totally the norm for me, too. I'd never think to talk politics with my father. We talk about the Phils, or the Little League he coaches in that I announce and my brother plays in (usually me criticizing the other coaches for being stereotypical LL assholes, and him finding that funny). Things like that.

My mom thinks there's racial bias for Obama, too.

My family is the same way. We have interesting discussions at times, with some being more passionate about it than others.

lol, how is that racist? because obama is black too? he should try living here, where being white is a minority and we have a corrupt black city mayor who gets reelected time and time again.

oh, and should i mention too when he ran the first time, he'd just finished fucking up the city school system as superintendent, and he recently announced he'd step down as mayor...only if he could be city school superintendent again...but he's not sure, so he'd be allowed to renege this if he wants to.

The numbers look bad, that's for sure. But that's just one state we all knew he would dominate from the beginning. If 95% of blacks vote for Obama in the GE, I'll think twice.
