a narrow field, to be sure.

who do you consider "the best"?

please tell who's your favorite and who you think is most gifted.

some pianists in rock off the top of my head:

tori amos
chris martin
thom yorke
billy joel
elton john
john paul jones
paul mccartney
stevie wonder (is he rock?)

please don't include any fly by night "pianists" that play on only one or two songs, ala axl rose, steven tyler, the edge, etc.

If organs count, that dude from The Doors. I have no idea what his name is.

holland is indeed very good.

my vote goes to thom yorke for obvious and more than a little biased reasons.

How's this for biased?

Chris Martin

Coming from inmyplace13, I'm sure that's a shock.

Philip Glass and Jools Holland, but they aren't rockers exactly

Elton John, too

 Exactly! It's beautiful but doesn't sound difficult, really.

I was being sarcastic, edge is good, but I know that there are many more much talented piano players
