This one immediately came to my head from Idlewild's first track on their most recent album:

In competition for the worst first line I could use in conversation for the first time

I thought of another, The Hold Steady's lead track from their last album, 'Stuck Between Stations':

There are nights when I think that Sal Paradise was right, boys and girls in America have such a sad time together

"I'm not here, this isn't happeing"

and...

"love is only a lie in the sky"
- Love Is (American Music Club)

Dylan has quite a few:

How many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man? ("Blowin' in the Wind")

Johnny come fleet foot, face full of black soot
I'm on the pavement thinkin' bout the government ("Subterranean Homesick Blues")

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief ("All Along the Watchtower")

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
("Highway 61 Revisited")

Stake my future on a hell of a past
Looks like tomorrow is coming on fast
("Silvio")

"I say my hell is the closet and I'm stuck inside. Can't see the light. And my heaven is a nice place in the sky. Got central-heating and I'm alright."

D.M.D.

"Come and relax now. Let down your worries and let them all fall away."

THE FLY!! "Oh baby child. It's no secret that the stars are falling from the sky. It's no secret our world's in darkness tonight. They say a secret is something you tell another person. So I am telling you child... SHINE." I know I am missing some lines Sorry about that. ;)

Tom Waits also has plenty

"I'd sell you hear to the junk-man, baby
for a buck, for a buck"
(God's Away on Business)

"Outside another yellow moon has punched a hole in the nighttime, yes"
(Downtown Train) (F:censored:ing Rod Stewart)

"I may not always love you"
(God Only Knows)

The Beach Boys aren't exactly famous for their lyrics (and with good reason), but there's something about the honesty of this line that is a real killer.

Now when he was a young man, he never thought he'd see
People stand in line to see the boy king

*Random wanking around for 5 minutes*

It's a boy, Mrs. Walker...it's a booooooooy! A son! A son! A soooooooooooooooooon!!!

I don't have to sell my soul, he's already in me

~Stone Roses, I Wanna Be Adored

I keep quoting from the first tracks on albums. Guess that makes sense. And I just sang Unico's track in my head for a couple minutes after reading those lines.

Yes!

"I asked you to go to the Green Day concert
you said you never heard of them--
how cool is that?
I went in your room
and read your diary."

Sorry, not first lines, just had to write 'em out.
