Best lyricist [sic?]?
I have no idea how to spell lyricist, and I'm too lazy to look it up.

Morrissey:
Some girls are bigger than others, some girls mothers are bigger than other girls....mothers. And if a double decker bus killed the both of us, to die by your side, well the pleasure the privelage is mine. Good one. He rules. |

To be fair to Chris Martin, I was once taking a piss in the snow (you know writing my name in cursive and what not...) while "Yellow" was playing and it WAS quite magical.

I'm a huge Radiohead fan, but I am not a huge fan of Thom's lyrics.

The above quote is from Buffy.
And Bob Dylan is probably high on the lyriscist list too. Springsteen maybe. Born to Run is damn near genius. Certainly some the best lyrics in rock music. |

Dylan is probably the best ever. Lou Reed deserves a mention. As far as prominent artists since the 80's through today, I'd likely cast my vote for Morrissey.

Bob Dylan, number one, easily. Period.
__________________Next (in no particular order): Bono Roger Waters Bruce Springsteen I'm sure that if any of us listened to rap on a regular basis we'd be able to put some rappers in the list too. I've heard some incredible word twists in some rap songs. |
