Kirk Gibson's walkoff in game 1 of the '88 WS.
Doug Flutie's Hail Mary pass vs. Miami.
The Reggie Miller game at MSG, when he scored like 20 points in the last 15 seconds or whatever.
When Bird stole the ball on the inbound in the '87 conference final against Detroit.

That's just off the top of my head...

I know it came during the second period, but as I recall, the actual ending of that game was pretty sweet, too.

That goal is just wrong on so many levels, from McCarty being the guy who scored it to one of my alltime favs giving it up. The NHL was far more exciting with Ron Hextall in it, I can tell you that.

IIRC, Joe Kocur scored a goal in that series as well.

Eagles-Packers in 2003 ... while it wasn't the game ending play, 4th and 26 was unbelievable. I remember literally standing up and beginning to walk out of the room in frustration at the snap, glancing back, and seeing Mitchell grab it. Akers comes through big, we stay alive.

Too bad Westbrook went down and we lost to Carolina as a result.

Phillies-Mets in August, 11-10, anyone?

The Grind Line

Hey, we were due - 55 years since the last Cup. It was time.

Wasn't the center Kris Draper? He used to kick ass in Sega hockey, because he was fast.

That was pretty sick.

However, I can't stand it when teams that are ahead in the last minute of a game give away layups. "Don't allow an open 3-pointer and don't foul" does not mean "give away 2 points".

Liverpool vs AC Milan Champions League 05

Liverpool comes back from a 3-0 lead and wins the game on penalties

it's a tough line... you don't want to give away the 2, but the last thing you want to do is foul and give 'em a chance for 3 with the clock stopped.

it's tricky... i'm not for it, but i understand it. the thought is that as long as you execute on your end, those two don't matter. it's probably a succesful tactic 90+% of the time, but that 1 out of 10 game where it doesn't work is crushing.

Wilkinson 2003.

Y'ever seen that episode of the Simpsons where Bart gets in trouble with Australia and they get the boot out? Well that's what I'd kick him with. I've never hated anyone so much in my life as after that moment.

But other moments:

Aloisi puts us in the World Cup.
Kewell keeps us alive against Croatia.

The siren sounding 2007 AFL GRand final. *happysigh*
