I'm wondering how anybody could vote for Blackbird! It's gonna be a few more rounds before I can knock that beauty of a song off.

This contest sure isn't making folks any friends, is it? <wink>

BTW, who voted for SFF? They're DEFINITELY off not only my Christmas list, but any other holiday-related list I ever make.

A Hard Day's Night. Probably the only one of these I can't put on repeat and still enjoy.

I'm saddened by all the votes for A Hard Day's Night.

I voted for Blackbird. Good song, for sure. Perhaps a little overrated in my opinion.

SFF is probably the greatest overall track The Beatles put out. The lyric is very personal yet has the wild imagery psychedelic-era Lennon is famous for, and it's a great example of the studio being used as an instrument. You have a string section, tape loops, speed changes, fantastic drumming by Ringo...the sound is whimsical and yet creepy at the same time, like Lewis Carroll's work. it's just a giant landmark in pop music.

Of course, it probably won't make it past the next round.

BTW, I'm voting for Yesterday. A great song, to be sure, but it's far from my favorite, and bores me to death.

Agreed on all counts. It's my favorite song. Period. Any band. It'll probably make it to the final two or three. And A Day In The Life will probably take it all.

Strawberry Fields Forever would definitely be a worthy winner of the competition. One of my favorite songs ever.

AFITL is a great song, there's no doubt about it, probably Top 5 Beatles or higher. But aside from the orchestra whipping itself into a frenzy, it's not really innovative enough for me to call it the best, my favorite, whatever.

I imagine that SFF is probably a little too weird to win a contest voted on by so many people, especially one that is open to casual Beatles fans as well as hardcore ones. That it has survived this long is just a testament to how great it is despite its eccentricity.
