Bama Sanctions

OK, Bama. Looks like Kentucky got hit pretty hard. What do you think your Tide will get? Any last minute predictions?

I will find out in about 45 minutes, while on my way to get a new "sexybamahaircut." I am shy of predicting what will happen; I would not have predicted a bowl prohibition for Kentucky, just as I would not have predicted the harsh penalties we were dealt in '95. My only hope as to a bowl prohibition centers around the fact that we are not charged with "lack of institutional control" this time, and Kentucky is, but then, we are "repeat offenders" this time, and I don't think UK is.

Well, it looks like I have found out sooner than I expected; 2 year bowl ban, many more scholarship limits than we had proposed, also more limits on official visits. I'm not too happy with this.

boosters...

They are just like sports agents. They can hurt a school's program without suffering any punishment themselves. How exactly does a program "disassociate" itself from a booster when there is little if anything a school can do to stop them from acting inappropriately?

Paterno tries to run a clean program up here at PSU, but some of these supporters scare me. My condolences, Bama.

One of the guys I work with said that he heard an NCAA official make the remark that "'Bama doesn't know just how close they came to the death penalty." Hmmmmmm, I don't know if I could ever imagine Bama being given the death penalty......

At least I have a good basketball team to pull for this year.

Yes, Monkey79, the NCAA's Yeager said something to that effect during his press conference Friday, and I thought it was a bit classless of him, especially when he mentioned repeatedly how well the UA administration handled everything and how this was all due to a few rogue boosters. More on HOW I REALLY FEEL tonight, though!

Sorry to hear Bama,
that happened to us about 1989 or so. It sucks.
