yes. you read the thread title right.

well? when they're played right, i'm going to go ahead and say that it's just as good as a great guitar line.

bear in mind that i would only have the guts to post a thread like this at 5 am...i really need to sleep

I can think of no song I have currently with bagpipes in them, although I have unsuccessfully tried to download Scottish folk music in the past. I think I was trying to get into Dougie MacLean and failed terribly (no one's sharing?) but I don't think he used bagpipes anyway.

Uh, I suppose I like bagpipes. I dont think I like them anywhere near as much as guitars.

I love bagpipes too!

How about we talk about great songs with bagpipes in them??

I've always thought it would be very wicked to have a bagpipe worked into Streets.. one of the techno covers sounds almost like a bagpipe.

streets coiuld be really cool like that!!! it would kill me, guitar part and pipes...yeah that could be really amazing

i really like what dropkick murphys do with bagpipes.

i saw this band gaelic storm and they a bagpipe player, he was really good. and it was loud, the whole show was really good, but the reels where the bagpiper played were the best

One of Bagpipe's greatest moments:

From a really crappy movie (So I married an Axe Murderer)...

Where Mike Myers does a rendition of Do ya think I'm Sexy (Rod Stewart)...

If it's not Scottish it's crap... actually that's not true.

And your rebuttal cujo...

Um, um, uh... I've got nothing. Damn you mofo!
If you're talking music-wise, I wholeheartedly agree.

You dont like So I married an Axe Murderer?

I quite like it.

On another note, I quite like that Matthew Good Band song Apparitions (that's Canadian) New Pornographers kick butt too, dirty Canadians

So I married an Axe Murderer was Ok, but in contrast to Wayne's World and Mike's other movies it just wasn't as good. I liked it... I'm obligated to like Mike Myers, it is my sole duty as a Canadian.

Sounds like a Mike Myer's thread is starting...

get mike myers the hell out of my bagpipe thread

somehow it doesn't seem as hostile when i'm talking to you guys...

You know you're crazy when you're talking to your own head...

but what about when you're talking to all three of your other heads?? then what??

ultra-insanity sets in...

I loveth the bagpipes. But I must admit that the Irish Uillean (sp?) pipes are much more melodic and easy on the ears (aka, Braveheart soundtrack, etc.) than the Scottish war pipes. Still, they have their own charm.

oh and Axe Murderer is a feckin' hilarious movie!!!! "We have a piper doooon, I repeat..a piper is doooon!"

 also very cool

and i wish i knew how to spell...i knew about a month ago but promptly forgot. kind of like how i remembered words for spelling tests in elementary school...

Actually I think the Uilleann Pipes are a much more beautiful instrument. They're much less harsh and loud than bagpipes and can complement other music much better
