Speaking from one that had the pleasure of going to the Superbowl the majority of Philly fans I was sitting around were just a bunch of assholes who could say nothing more substantial than "PATS SUCK". The man sitting next to me was so drunk not only did he fall over me and spill cheesewiz nachos in my lap, but during that lame ass fight song (who does that?!?!?! and unless you are Notre Dame it is really uncool) he spelled E-A-G-L-E-S like E-G-L-A-S.

Luck of the draw.

The fight song? I know the words, I don't sing it. Most fans just stick to the E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles! part.

"Fly Eglas Fly!!"

i think i'm gonna go by my initials from now on

call me d.m.

or maybe d.mc. for the j.lo effect

i deserve it after having heroic season ending surgery

and heroically playing violently ill in a superbowl

this thread sucks

Look who it is! Tell me, if Tiki Barber wasn't on your team would you have won a single game last year? He's all you got on offense. You're so horrible.

And I know that's not Eli Manning, but still, you are horrible.

This is a GREAT thread...why?

Because Philly needs a ego massage knowing that Headache is here to make every sports thread into a NY vs. Boston thread! ;)

I have seen Lincoln financial's Police Sub-station (see why down a little further)...and a guy being escorted out in handcuffs. The best part: fans can gawk/yell at the guy as he is being carted off to a police car. This exit is where the opposing team comes out to their bus (see...I was working, not getting a disorderly). I had to dive for cover as stuff was being hurled at the buses - and no, santa was no where to be seen.

Philly fans are no worse in real life than NY fans. I have witnessed women fighting a Jets games and a woman clipping her man's toenails at a Mets game. I did not witness anything of the sorts at any of the Philly sporting events I attended.

Now, the callers to WIP have to be some of the BIGGEST idiots in all of sportsdom...even if Eskin is a "douche." I LOVED tuning into WIP just to make me feel "smarter!"

Overall...I have not lived in or near an area that was so passionate about ALL of their sports teams. I was so impressed with the turn out for the Calder Cup (AHL Hockey) last year...as well as the support that the Phillistines give to the Wings (Indoor Lacrosse), The Soul (Bon Jovi's indoor football team) and whatever that indoor soccer team is called. And for that, I have to say that if I had a chance to own a sports team (and wanted to make money at the box office), I would want it to be in Philly!

Now what is this about the Red Barrons moving to Allentown? :hmm:

Simply the best in baseball
Every starting player gets a hit as Mets pass Tigers for top record

PHILADELPHIA -- It's impossible, of course, for the Mets to go undefeated for the remainder of this season. But after the first two games here at Citizens Bank Park, they certainly look like they could, especially if they keep playing the Phillies.

If this is the best competition the National League East can muster, then the Mets should begin planning their playoff rotation. Orlando Hernandez was cut short by a 65-minute rain delay, but it was the Mets' relentless pounding of the Phillies' pitching staff that delivered this 9-3 victory.

Oh, and now there's this: the Mets, at 41-23, are the best team in baseball, or at least record-wise. The win moved them percentage points ahead of the Tigers, who slipped to 42-24.

 :bonodrum:

two in a row...we have ourselves a winning streak. We beat the mighty Yankees. This is make or break time, lots of road/interleague games.

We really suck right now. I mean, REALLY suck right now. We took a AA pitcher the other night because we are doing so badly.

Pat Gillick should begin looking at guys who have the ability to throw a baseball PAST a batter. Getting this can be known as a strike and can do wonderous things to a team's record.

Watching some of the Yanks/Phils game on tv last night, after the home plate ump got a foul ball off his nuts, a Philly fan can be heard saying "Walk it off". I fell out of my chair laughing and thought of this thread.

THAT is a typical Philly thing to say.

Isn't there a parade in Philly today in celebration of this?

No, we're extremely busy trying to find pitching.

By the way, Pat Burrell for a half-decent starter anyone? ANYONE?

The Braves were due, 14 straight division titles is a good run.
If I'm a Braves fan, I give them a pass this year and see if they can retool and compete next season.

this past year i saw a giants fan pelted with snow balls and booed as he walked across the Linc parking lot...of course i wasnt involved in anyway

We didn't physically HIT the NY Giants fan, which is what we're usually accused of doing. Snowballs are nothing. I enjoy getting hit with one because it means I get to throw some back. And I have deadly aim with a snowball.

By the way, we did have some good stuff for Bonds. My 2 favorites:

- The two friends, one real thin, and one much larger, who dressed as "Bonds on Pirates" and "Bonds on Giants."

- RUTH DID IT ON HOT DOGS AND BEER. AARON DID IT WITH CLASS. HOW'D YOU DO IT?

I knew several of the guys who were holding the sign in left.
