are videos necessary in rock anymore?

I've been noticing that certain bands who still have a huge fan base, namely radiohead and pearl jam, and also sell out concerts, sell millions of albums, etc. do not have video exposure on mtv or vh1. pearl jam 'cause they don't make videos after jeremy and rh makes videos but you got a better chance of seeing the pope having sex than one of theirs, so the point is: bands should not feel obliged to make videos for those conglomerates any longer.

so there.

I would say that it's possible that the huge fan base of the bands you have mentioned do not watch MTV or VH1 much to see new videos anyway.

FWIW, MTV2 is pretty good about playing Radiohead, etc.

Unfortunately, MTV and VH1 play videos that get ratings. And right now, Ja Rule is the king of ratings.
