... you can't understand a single word in the lyrics but you love the song to death anyway, judging solely on musical merit?

I realized today that for me, it's Ozzy's Bark At The Moon! Can't understand a single word of what he's babbling about, except of course for those 4 words from the title. I was singing along in my car, literally just going blah blah blah to the tune! But musically, it kicks so much ass!!!

Well, I know it's cliche... but I love Louie Louie :D

There's also this Gaelic song by the Rankin Family that I've loved for about 10 years now and I have NO idea what I'm singing along with :) All I know is that it's a love song and so beautiful...

My first language is English, and I sadly feel the same way you do sometimes....

Maybe I just need to pay attention.

Several of the Cocteau Twins songs don't really have intelligible lyrics, yet I enjoy them.

I actually listen to a lot of music that I love but whose lyrics are in a language I don't understand. I just finished Federico Aubele's album a few minutes ago, which is in Spanish. When I read the lyrics, I understand them a little. When it comes to someone like Deep Forest, however, I don't have a chance. They've got singing in tons of different languages, including Pygmy. I love it, even though I have no clue what the words mean.

"SCREAMS BRAKE THE SILENCE! WAKING FROM THE DEAD OF NITE! VENGANCE IS BOILING! HE'S RETURNED TO KILL THE LIIIIIIIGHT! THEN WHEN HE'S FOUND WHO HE'S LOOOOOOOKIIIIIING FOR - LISTEN IN AWE AND YOU'LL HEAR HIM -

BARK AT THE MOON!!"

I like Kasabian and most of their lyrics are unintelligble. Even when I can understand the words they make no sense as they're complete gibberish!

As Ozzy's already been mentioned I'd like to throw "Shot In The Dark" in for consideration too.

"OUT ON THE STREET, IM STALKING THE NIGHT, I CAN HEAR MY HEAVY BREATHING.
PAID FOR THE KILL, BUT IT DOESNT SEEM RIGHT, SOMETHING THERE I CAN BELIEVE IN.
VOICES ARE CALLING FROM INSIDE MY HEAD....I CAN HEAR THEM....I CAN HEAR THEM.
VANISHING MEMORIES OF THINGS THAT WERE SAID, YOU CANT TRY TO HURT ME NOOOOOOOOOW - BUT A SHOT IN THE DARK...1 STEP AWAY FROM YOU, JUST A SHOT IN THE DAAAAAAAARK, ALWAYS CREEPING UP ON YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU ALRIGHT!"

some of Mike Patton's work.
I don't even know if they are words or just noises. But some of it is incredible. Best experimental voice in rock, ever.

he sings more clearly on FNM, Bungle and Tomahawk, but some of the other stuff, solo, Fantomas etc. it's interesting at least.

Gotta love Google...
