I just wanted to say that while I definitely have been an Arcade Fire fan for a while now, they're not one of my big favorites or anything. So, I had been looking forward to the new album, but not with the same fervor I might have for releases from other bands.

So, I find myself in the wonderful position of not believing just how much I like this album. I'm not sitting here and saying it's the best of 2010 or whatnot, I don't operate that way. I just know that for me, for whatever reason(s), the album is a sheer delight from start to finish. I'm disappointed that I'll not see them at Lollapalooza as originally planned, but perhaps I can see them elsewhere while they are touring. I was lucky enough to see them right after I moved to Chicago, and it was a wonderful show in a wonderful theater.

So, anyway, I'm just very happy with the album and look forward to more listens over the coming days.

Mike, do you still live in the Bay Area?

The band has more than two months between their show in Italy on Sept. 2 and then Portugal on Nov. 18. I'm positive they will tour the West, including the coast, during that time. And when they do, you can be sure that I'll be at at least one of them.

The prevailing sentiment on the interwebs is that Arcade Fire will most likely add a few dates in the U.K. in September, perhaps a couple of shows at the O2, and then tour the Midwest and West in North America during the latter part of September and all of October.

I may even consider traveling if they don't come here, as I'm still pissed I had to go to Australia and lose my tickets last time. Friggin' Australia.

I'll most definitely be traveling. Seeing them on Saturday in person and last night on Youtube is not enough. I want more!

So basically this means that God hates these places in descending intensity:

1. Utah
2. Australia
3. Philly
4. Canada

Well, more accurately God probably just hates me. Here's a short list of bands I've had tickets to see, but had to miss because of last minute business trips:

Arcade Fire
LCD Soundsystem
Mogwai
Sigur Ros

That doesn't include personal vacations I had flights booked for and entertainment premiers I was excited for but missed out on because of work.

I do, but I'm out of here at the end of next month, when my lease expires. Not sure where I'm going next, it's down to 3 cities.

I've missed many a show/game/trip due to work. I think the most disappointing was having to miss U2 in Vegas during a reunion weekend with a bunch of old friends. That really sucked. The rest were disappointing, but, not the end of the world.

Which ones? You might want to give those people something to get nauseous excited about.

Also, the lesson here is clearly CHECK YOUR LEASE.

NYC area, LA, or a 3rd city I'd rather not mention cos I'm sort of in job (consultant, really) negotiations right now and don't want to jinx it. I have 2 deal-breakers and 1 of them is a point of contention so I don't know what's going to happen.

I had "check your lease" in my little nonsensical FB box for about a year straight.

My 80 year old landlord called me yesterday to see if I was renewing, he sounded almost relieved when I told him that I wasn't. He asked if my gf was going to stay, and when I reminded him that she moved out like 4 months ago, he said "Oh, that's right. Well, I'd say you're better off without her but you always seem so angry to me that maybe you're not. Hahaha" I honestly had no reply to that. Old people can sort of say whatever they want, I guess.
