I love the female vocals (Regine?) on Neon Bible. I don't know what everyone's problem is. She's refreshingly different.

I effin love this album!

I agree. I think both of them improved, and I think Regine's backing vocals are really good, but the lead vocals of Arcade Fire are not terribly impressive. but they don't suck, and far too many rock bands have shitty singers, so I'm fine with one that doesn't stand out

I had my first Arcade Fire dream last night. I was at their concert in this small theatre...Regine was singing lead and sounding quite good.

Definitely.

Like Mike said, she does bring that whimsical quality. Her work on The Well and the Lighthouse and Black Wave / Bad Vibrations are perfect for the songs.

Anyway, enough about the vocals.

Who's excited about seeing them live!
I got my tickets to see them in Atlanta on 5/1

You guys are in for a treat! I've seen them four times already—three times when they opened for U2 and once last month— and they are amazing live. So much energy and enthusiasm, unlike any band I've ever seen.

Rather than post the whole long article I've provided an excerpt that I thought people would find interesting.

Here's the link for anyone interested:

It was snowing the day I first met Arcade Fire in Montreal towards the end of 2005. As newly celebrated local heroes the group were supporting U2 at the hockey arena. They were on form, and when Arcade Fire are on form, keen as hell, forced by time, lost in music, determined to prove themselves, to take the bull by the horns, to break the ice, to spread good cheer, to save souls, to storm the barricades, to put on a show that can destroy cynicism, they're the one group in the world that can match, even transcend, the battling spirit and sincerity of U2. You could also put them on a bill with the ripest Bruce, the deadliest Dylan, the heaviest Joy Division and the moodiest Roxy and they could hold their heads high and march toward glory, and possibly, as if there is still such a thing in this neighbourhood, history.

U2 tried to persuade Arcade Fire to join them as they continued their world tour, one that was to visit Japan, South America and Australia, and end a few months later in Hawaii. It was a tempting offer, and Bono used his most lowery persuasive powers to convince the group to come with them. 'I wouldn't want any other group to support us ever again,' enthused an infatuated Bono.

The group, though, had their own plans. They were about to buy a church near Montreal, and turn it into a studio where they could record the follow up to their debut album, Funeral.

Nice, you get to see the full-fledged tour earlier than I do.

I saw them open for U2 in 2005, and saw two of the preliminary five shows at Ukrainian Federation this February. Will be seeing them at the oddball Maurice Richard Arena venue this May.

Good luck to the sound girl for that one - that things a big metal pot, acoustically-speaking.
