Good for you! Janis is one of the greatest voices in music history.

You should find her version of leaving on a jetplane. Now THAT takes another piece of my heart (Yeah, I said it) every time I hear it.

Take another little piece of my heart now baby!!!

Well - now that you've heard her, can you see the influence she's had on those that followed?

spooky how close that is to me!

Janis is a big hero of mine

Check out "Ball & Chain" from the Greatest Hits and "Get It While You Can" -- two of my faves! I'll upload if you want :)

And if you get the chance to read "Love, Janis" do... it's her sister writing about Janis's life... an excellent and insightful read.

"A Woman Left Lonely" and "Tell Mama" are great as well!

Hell, her entire catalogue is great stuff!

And if you ever get to see or hear a live recording... wow. The heart Janis put into her music is incredible. She was a performer totally committed to communicating with her audience. I used to have some bootlegs around here somewhere... :hmm:

I love Janis, she's my favourite female singer

"Ball and Chain" from the Monterey Pop Festival is mind blowing

For the person who started this thread...
PLEASE RENT THE FILM "FESTIVAL EXPRESS"!!!

It is vintage never-before-seen Janis footage...AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
I beleive the title is simply "FESTIVAL EXPRESS" but you better double check on google. A MUST SEE FOR ANY JANIS FANS.

Dude "Festival Express" is awesome .

hippy this book...man this book is amazing!!!

:combust: the words just go with the book:laugh:if that makes any sense!!!!!

It does make sense! I actually checked the book out from the library and then I had to buy it for myself I loved it so much!

It gives such an insight into her life and what motivated her art... I was really inspired by the way Janis lived and what she believed in... a lot of that came from the letters printed in the book.

I could go on all night about her! I think when you fall for Janis, you really fall for her and there's no going back! :)

She's a heroine of mine... I'm glad you're getting into her too, girl :)
