Anyone here been to Reykjavik?

I'm thinking about going there and wondered what people who had been there generally thought of Reykjavik? Is there a lot of interesting historical things to see? What is the culture like? Where did you stay and eat? What is the night life like? Things like that.

Yep. I spent three days with AM and her hubby while en route back to the States from Europe last fall. It was a really cool place. I think my favorite part was the Blue Lagoon.

Iceland as a whole (the parts I saw) seemed beautiful in a wide-open spaces, natural beauty sort of way. I don't think I saw a single tree the whole time I was there. Lava rocks all over the place and plenty of geological wonders. Some of the pics I took...

Wow, that is amazing Sula. Incredible pictures. Did you stay in Reykjavik at all? Some friends and I have this bizarre idea about possibly going to Reykjavik for New Years. In general because of the lack of sun light and shut down of the tourism industry in winter, it seems we would be spending most of the time in just Reykjavik. So if you have any insights or info about Reykjavik that would be cool! Thanks again!
