Anyone heard of Jet?

Jet is an Australian band with a sound that's kind of equal parts The Clash and The Beatles with a kind of classic American rock edge to it. Their current single is "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" off of Get Born - the video is getting pretty good play and the song is also on one of Apple's iTunes/iPod commercials.

Anyway, I found Get Born in a clearance bin at Best Buy and got it for $10. This is a really cool album! It's got a great mix of rowdy rockers and ballads. Overall I'd call it pretty honest and pure. No gimmicks, no overtly complex songwriting, no wild innovation, just simple, satisfying and solid tunes.

Anyone else heard their stuff and like?

That single is a killer driving song...although, I need to watch my speed limit when it comes on, if you catch my drift...

It is a cool song, although it sounds so familiar I was sure it was a remake - but apparently it's all theirs

I think they are good.
Not really my type of music generally, but I'm considering getting their album. There is just too much I want.

I like them, even if they won't win any prizes for originality. "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" is my current favourite song to crank up loud on the radio while driving,

Yeah, they're definitely derivative, but in a good way, I think.

I think it (the song) is being used in a commercial too.

I was going to see them (they played here in town a few weeks ago), but I opted for sleep instead.

That's exactly what my friends and I were saying. Still, they seem alright, and I like the video a lot. Good concept. I'd be interested in hearing some of their other songs.

Jet are good. They've got the UP rock tunes, but whats was really nice to hear was this band can play a good BALLAD. This is the band the Strokes wish they were.
