YES.

Loveee love will tear us aparttt again.

And New Order kicks ass too.

I'm stuck on the new album, I love it.. Crystal, 60mph, Slow Jam..

Saw them about 14 years ago ! I feel lucky to have seen them at all.

Musically, "Get Ready" may be their best album. But oh, the lyrics!

Oh you dont like the lyrics?

I was actually a bigger fan around the time Substance came out.

hey MD, not a fan as such, but always been aware of them.
New order were just in Oz for the BigDayOut tour. Two antecdotes that stood out from the radio interview I heard them do..
Q: Did you like any of the newer bands also on the BDO tour?(which included garbage)
A:No

Q: blurb , blurb, something about "pushing 50"?
A: We are not pushing 50!! It is dragging us towards it.

I like that reply. That's why I liked the journalist's phrase who referred to Daniel Lanois as "nudging 50"(see candyfloss' post)
They were also asked who has covered one of their songs they approve of. They replied Frente "Bizarre Love Triangle. I suppose that was the safe answer considering they were on aussie radio.

Hello,

I just bought Permanent (ie. the best of Joy Division) Saturday. I haven't fully listened to it, but what I heard sounded very good. I'll let you know more in a few days.

C ya!

I'm a big Joy Division/New Order fan. I LOVE the new New Order album. I've always liked Joy Division's lyrics better, though.

Ian Curtis was a brilliant lyricist. What a huge loss.

This is my favourite Ian Curtis picture:

"Ian was the best performer of his generation. I know that, and I know I was number two. But now he's gone I mean to do it, and in a way I want to do it for him." -- Bono on Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis

Okay, now I'm sad.

Anyway, http://www.warren.org.uk/music/joyd.html is a great Joy Division site, for any of you that haven't seen it yet. It's where I found out about the Billy Corgan cover of "Isolation," which is fantastic, by the way.

Yeah I got sad too looking at some pics.

I think its very cool that New Order found the courage to go on and make wonderful music without him though.

yes, but I had to stop listening to them for a while 'cause they made me want to slit my wrists......

but that was a long time ago.....

great music, but very very dark. I have to be in a good, very musical mood to be able to enjoy them now. I only listen to them probably once or twice a year if that.

New Order owns man. First time I heard Blue Monday (on those classic MTV) I was like WTF is this but Subculture was the cut that converted me.

As for JD, I've only heard Love Will Tear Us Apart and Atmosphere. Both stellar. I'll need to pick up a CD soon.

ooh i love them

great atmospheres generated from synthesizers

Joy Division sure didnt last long, but my favourite tunes by them would be:
Isolation
Atmosphere,
Love Will Tear Us Apart
Transmission
Digital

my favourite Order tunes would be (more candidates here of course):

Blue Monday
Bizarre Love Triangle
Vanishing Point
The Perfect Kiss
Regret
Temptation
Round and Round
Your Silent Face
Touched By The Hand Of God- great video
