Anton Chekhov appreciation thread

if anyone so much as mentions the chekov guy in star trek, i'll kick them.

we've got to read a story for russian class, in the original russian not watered-down text book simplification, and as opposed to tolstoy, it's written in readable language. makes my life so much easier. plus it's really pleasant to read.

well, since you corrected my spelling (i knew i'd spell it wrong...i can't spell doestoevsky on a regular basis either), i won't kick you.

"Lady With Pet Dog"

My favorite short story. (And one of my favorite papers that I did.)

I can't think of another favorite, they're all so good. Time for me to re-read them.

^

i feel kinda dumb, i actually can't remember what this story is called in english

the bride? fiancee? something like that.

i haven't read any of chekhov's stories, but i should check that out. i am a huge fan of his plays. love the cherry orchard, the seagull, the three sisters. amazing stuff.

supercool that you're studying russian, iwasbored. i studied russian history in undergrad and fell in love with it. lots of great literature came out of that country.
