Anthrax version of 'Exit'????

Who has it? Or has heard it? I don't think it has been released yet, but with the internet you never know.......

I fully understand that some of you U2 fans will not appreciate any cover, much less a metal band covering U2 because "noone should sing it except Bono" or whatever. Tell that to Bono when he sings one of hundreds of covers U2 have done in full or as snippets sung by Bono. That is a ludicrous belief, especially those who have heard Tori Amos singing RTSS, which is quite beautiful, and yet you already have a few "noone should sing that but Bono" .......give me a fucking break.

Great bands need and want to hear their songs played, it not only gives upmost respect to the songwriters, it is a chance to hear the song in a new light. There is no greater compliment to the band.

I think 90% of music fans enjoy cover songs for this very reason. OK enough of that, onto my question:

Has anyone heard Anthrax's version of 'Exit'? I haven't and am dying to.

Now, I know full well there aren't many if hardly any Anthrax fans on here, but you cannot tell me that this doesnt sound at least interesting.

They recorded it along with 2 other covers (one being a Police song) for B-sides for their newest album.

I thought maybe someone had heard it or knows how to get an mp3 of it.

And for the record, the band has been seriously upgraded since the days of their hair music, and their singer John Bush is actually quite good, not Bono-good but very good for a hard rock/metal band.

I'd bet it's excellent, 'Exit' was a song dying for a metal band to cover for 15 years.

P.O.D.'s version of Bullet, was decent, but lacked the fire and emotion I expected, basically because their singer cannot sing. I also am somewhat interested to hear Sepultura cover Bullet, but their singer is very raspy and classic 'throat-metal' if you know what I mean.

I guarantee you, that most of you would probably like Antrhrax's version, I am guessing because I haven't heard it yet, but they are playing some excellent hard rock lately. Roger Daltrey was a guest vocalist on one of their tracks on their latest album.

I think a metal cover of "Exit" could be interesting, but I know next to nothing about Anthrax.

Anthrax covered U2??
Well I guess I'll call myself the resident metal dude in here, I'm into metal, but I've never heard anything about Anthrax covering U2.
I think a metal cover of Exit would go well (with the proper metal band) Exit is definitely one of U2's "hard rock" songs.
I'll have to do my own investigating.

POD sucks, and their cover sucks, nu-metal crap
Queensryche did a live cover of Bullet the Blue Sky, best cover I have heard so far, and Sepultura's is good too.

Ok, checked it out it has not been released.
Maybe it will be released for their next single as a b-side.
I'll definitely keep my eye on that.

Pretty obvious choices though. Heavy metal band covers U2 - it's always going to be Exit or Bullet. Why not put some new zing to something like 'Even Better'?

I always wanted to hear Pearl Jam cover Bullet. Just seems like the perfect U2 song for them.

Eddie could wail out the "Ooooo-ooohooos" and the guitar riff is McCready-esque as it is.

I had a chance to suggest it to Eddie back in '95 but I froze up and didn't talk to him (I sat and played guitar next to him on a stool for about 5 minutes, alone, in a used guitar shop in Seattle). I still regret not chatting with him about that and other stuff.

I think Anthrax covering Exit sounds cool. Looking forward to hearing it.
Anthrax has pushed musical boundaries for years, their take on it should be interesting, and shoudl rock.

pearl jam has covered MLK... attached to the end of Daughter. I've got one version of it on mp3... low quality, but it sounds pretty good. Hoping a more high quality version comes out eventually. They are thinking of releasing past concerts on CD, much like they've done with every show since 2000. Maybe it'll surface one day.

I don't know if Eddie's voice lends it's self to Bullet... would still love to hear it though. U2 songs are very hard to cover because Bono's voice is so distinctive. I think the best cover of a U2 song i've heard was Billy Corgan doing Stay and Johnny Cash doing One.

from the wanderer...

The list is far from complete, but it's a start.

I'd love to hear some of those especially the MLK covers. I bought the Philharmonic tribute to U2...waste of money.

Don't forget Cher's cover of Still Haven't Found
or George Micheal's Miss Sarajevo...
