Umm, I am over it. Thanks.

The only reason I brought this up was just my sharing of what happened to me yesterday. I was just making my observations based upon the game. I had/have no idea that the Pats fans generally have a bad reputation in the sports world? I had no idea prior to right now, reading they are compared to Yankees fans, that they do have a bad rep? I don't follow sports as much as you all, I really am just a Chargers fan, but I don't really follow the rest of the NFl that much.

But, based on my own experience with the Pats fans yesterday, if they do have a bad reputation, then I must say, based on how they behaved yesterday
2 points:

1. Don't believe it gospel that Pats fans are similar to Yankee fans just because Chizip, who is still bitter about the Pats beating the Rams and the Red Sox sweeping the Cards says so. Thats like saying you're sure the war in Iraq and the collateral damage of innocent children is what God wants cause GWB says so.

B. Answer this question honestly: Were there any Charger fans at Qualcomm Sunday who may have been drunk and/or obnoxious towards the Pats fans?
I'm guessing just as high a percentage of the SD fans were acting in this type of manner as Pats fans, but because you're a Charger fan you leave that part of the equation out. Obviously the Pats fans would make comments to you and the other Charger fans, which seems to upset you...but are you saying the Charger fans just took it and didn't respond in kind? C'mon now.

Wel that was actually unbiased Headache's assertation. I just agreed with him, because he's a smart guy.

i have not had biased relations with that team, the boston red sox. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people.

:shifty:

i don't want to see anything more about ladanian tomlinson.

i've lost a lot of respect for the guy... if you want to complain that the pats shouldn't have taunted at th end of the game and weren't classy in doing so? fine... but you can't then say in your same argument that they weren't being classy because "that's shawne merriman's dance."

to steal a thought from mike and mike in the morning... tomlinson said that the end of game taunting is "bad for the kids." i'd love for someone to ask tomlinson if he'd like it if pop warner football players would do the "lights out" dance after sacking a QB?

you can't be OK with a taunt when it's your own guy doing it, but not OK with it when it's the other team. you're either for it the whole way or against it the whole way. there is no inbetween.

Good point. I never can stand hypocrisy.

And a final somewhat Charger related thought...
I just had to dodge lightning bolts as:

A. Deion Sanders was the voice of reason.
2. Headache and U2Kitten just saw eye to eye.

The apocalypse can't be far behind, maybe this is the year Peyton makes the Superbowl...and the Cubs win the World Series...and another horse wins the triple crown...

Well, you weren't asking me, but since I was at the game as well, I can answer this question.

The majority of fans at the game from both sides were well-behaved, though there were of course exceptions. During the game, one Pats fan in the section next to mine was escorted from the game in handcuffs, and in my section were a handful of Pats fans (males in their 20s, slightly inebriated) who were acting obnoxiously.

I can say, however, that after the game ended, I did not see one Patriots fan taunting a Chargers fan about the loss. Not one. The only time I saw Pats fans talking to Chargers fans after the game, it was to congratulate them on a tough game. And I took the train to the game, so I was waiting in line and standing in the train for at least 45 minutes with a bunch of fans from both teams. I did, however, see a few Chargers fans screaming vulgarities at the Pats fans as they were leaving (annoying, but standard). And when I got off the train with my buddy at the Hazard Center, a Chargers fan (probably very drunk) who also got off the train there started screaming at me specifically as we were walking back to our car. I was perhaps a couple hundred feet in front of him, and I did not bother to acknowledge him, which of course was the proper thing to do. He started screaming at me again, I guess because he thought I was giving him a smug attitude by refusing to reply.

Absolutely everything that happened to me was entirely unprovoked. I was standing in line for the ladies room, saying absolutely nothing and a Pats woman fan said to me and all the other women in the line "wow, its all Chargers fans, what a bunch of C*NT BITCHES, etc etc. " Real charming. All of us in line were so shocked, as she kept going, we just laughed at her in shock and how completely classless she was. She kept going, and screaming, and then other Pats women who came in joined in with her, screaming punk bitches, along with other really crude stuff. I was honestly SHOCKED, and it takes a lot to shock me, because I work with criminals for a living. Believe me, I have seen it all, but this one was right up there in the shock factor for just pure, unprovoked rudeness. I mean, who uses the word C*nt to refer to people you don't even know and who said nothing to you? I was just crazy behaivor.

As to the Pats men fans who tried to punch a woman, I do not even believe the woman was a Chargers fan, she didn't have a jersey on or anything, apparently the Pats men said some really crude stuff to her that she didn't appreciate (she was blonde and pretty, so I am assuming they were making unwelcome comments towards her), so she let them know where they could put their comments. Apparently, they were none to happy with this, and decided to attack her. Luckily security stopped them before they had a chance to hit her.

I didn't personally encounter obnoxious drunk Chargers fans, but of course they were there. Some of the other Pats fans that were around me (I was on the visitors side, so there were a lot) were just drunk and obnoxious, but that is to be expected at a NFl game, and that's not was I was referring to prior, I was referring to these two separate incidents that happened. So yes, to answer your question, the two incidents that I observed were not provoked in any way. Happy now? Why don't you just let it rest - all I was doing was relating what happened to me, and MY experience with the Pats fans. I was careful to state that I recognize not all Pats fans are like this, but the ones I encountered were. It was just a general weird, tense vibe, not at all what I am used to when going to a Chargers game. Its hard to describe, but I just felt like the Pats fans around us would like to spit on us if they could - that was the kind of vibe I was getting, and I have never felt this at any sporting event before. Even with big rivalries, like with the Raiders, it is all kept in the spirit of competition, but this game did not have that vibe at all, I mean, I still had a good time because it was a great game, but after the incident in the bathroom, and watching a man try to punch a woman, the tone was just bizarre. The guy sitting next to us was a Pats fan who lives in San Diego, and he said he was so embarassed that these people were fans of his team, because they were a disgrace. So, it wasn't just Chargers fans who got the weird vibe from the Pats fans.

I honestly had no idea Pats fans had any kind of reputation at all until I posted my experience on this board. I still don't know if they do or don't have a reputation, but, I must say, if they do,based upon my personal observations, I can see where it comes from.

they don't... the comparison to yankee fans was made by me to needle the new england fans a bit, because as everyone knows, nothing is more of an insult to a person from new england than being called a yankee fan.

thus then, i suppose i'm the disrespectful one.

i shall now do my disrespectful dance

I didn't think we did. Yup I am saying we-I am a proud Pats fan who actually cheers positively for her team without swearing and our acting like someone on Jerry Springer. This Pats fan has been to 4 Superbowls where she got a beer dumped on her by a Philly fan 'accidently' of course. She has noticed at these 4 Superbowls that fans were generally well behaved on both sides. (okay some Philly fans where a little insane and the Green BAy fan dressed like a crocodile was just wierd) She has also been to numerous other stadiums (such as Yankee stadium) where she has been taunted and called names. She has been called names by Jets fans sitting behind her at Foxboro stadium. She is over it. She understands it is football and there are always drunk people and does not let the words of a few fans mar her image OF THE ENTIRE TEAM!!!

That being said I will always hate the Colts no matter what. Go Pats.

And you were quite specific in labelling me as one of them since I didn't immediately condemn the Patriot players who mocked Shawne Merriman:

Honestly, if you are defending the Pats and their actions, then you are exactly the kind of Pats fan I am talking about.

And you have never met me. Those in this forum who have may have a different impression of me than you can ascertain from your computer screen. As I do not drink, I don't enjoy being generalized as a drunk obnoxious fan by someone on a computer screen because I think that Shawne brought the Patriots response upon himself and his teammmates.

I'm sorry you had a bad encounter with someone at the game, it wasn't me, and I never condoned that particular act anywhere in this thread...I wouldn't. The point I made and got attacked for was strictly regarding the whole LT/Merriman dance incident. And I still stand behind my contention that the Chargers, and most specifically Merriman had that coming to them, they talked leading up to the game, Merriman did his dance on the first Pats play just cause he pressured Brady, no sack and he acts like an ass on the field, and couldn't back up his mouth Sunday and LT and a few others were upset that the Pats rubbed Merriman's face in things. As many have stated, LT should have more of a beef with Merriman than the Patriots.

Ok, no I don't. But I hope you're right!
Well if the Colts win Sunday, get yer ass to vegas and put a large futures bet on the Cubbies to win the WS...

..speaking of which, anybody here smart enough to have the Saints at the preseason price of 150-1 to win the Superbowl??? Man I wish I had Chizip's conspiracy theory foresight and had a few sheckles on that one.
