[q] "Pie" Babe Nadia Nixes Marriage
Mon Mar 07, 8:35 PM ET
Time to lock up the teenage boys--Nadia is back on the market.
Shannon Elizabeth, best known as the hot foreign-exchange student Nadia in the American Pie franchise, is splitting from her husband, actor Joseph Reitman, after three years of marriage and a decade of dating.
The couple "have mutually decided to separate," the actress' publicist said in a statement Monday. "The couple will remain friends."
Per People magazine, which first reported the breakup, the split was mutual and the two are still cohabitating in their Los Angeles home. "Neither has moved out," Elizabeth's rep told the magazine.
Elizabeth, 31, and Reitman, 36, were spotted together as recently as Oscar weekend at Elton John's annual post-Academy Awards fete, although the couple socialized separately, according to E! Online's Party Girl columnist Lara Morgenson.
Last weekend, Elizabeth was partying it up sans wedding ring at the third anniversary party for Light nightclub at the Bellagio Hotel, People reports.
There has been no word on when (or if) they will file a divorce petition.
The couple, who married on a Mexican beach in June 2002 after 10 years together, did not have any children. But according to People, the two will have to figure out how to divvy up their small army of pets. (The two animal lovers crusaded for critter rights and cofounded the nonprofit Animal Avengers rescue program.)
It was the first marriage for both.
Aside from her Pie breakthrough, Elizabeth's film credits include Love Actually, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and the recently released werewolf flick Cursed. She will be seen in the Tom Arnold-penned, Penelope Spheeris-directed The Kid & I later this year. On the small screen, she has showed off her poker prowess as a winner on Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown. Elizabeth will guest star on this Wednesday's episode of That '70s Show, reprising her role as the mother of Kelso's baby, and stars in the new UPN sitcom Cuts.
Reitman's career is full of bit parts in TV shows like Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed and films like Clueless and The Perfect Storm. He's also had minor roles in several of Elizabeth's movies. He's due to make a higher-profile splash later this year in Bandidas, which stars Salma Hayek.
This marks the second time in a week that an American Pie star has broken off a long-running romance. Pie guy Chris Klein and Katie Holmes called off their engagement after four years together. [/q]
