Annoying coworkers

Please tell me that I am not the only one that works with people that I can't stand..... Who at your work drives you crazy?

I have the guy that feels the need to call me 'kelster' every morning and is always talking even when he has nothing to say. Also, his jokes suck and he gets very upset with you when you can't tell that he is joking.

I also hate people that don't check their email, then don't have any clue what is going on in the office. They ask me stupid questions that they would have had the answer to if they checked it on a regular basis.

Oh ya, there's also this guy that makes some what sexual jokes all the time. I wouldn't say that he harrases me because I am easy going and I don't get upset about stuff like that. However, once I said that he looked like Sean from Will and Grace (he does) and he freaked out and threatened to lodge a formal complaint.

Argh. The last job I had, I worked with some pretty disgusting individuals. One of them ate like a horse. She sat at my work station and would munch and slurp her way through a small mountain of food before lunchtime even rolled around. She was a scrawny little person too. Obviously just a high metabolism, but she couldn't eat with her mouth closed and was in the habit of drinking plain hot water but would slurp at it instead of sipping it. She was a lovely girl but geez it was annoying sitting near her, especially toward the end when I was feeling quite hideous from the pregnancy.

Then there was Miss (or Misses) X. None of knew who Miss X was. But she caused a lot of grief. Often you'd go into the ladies bathroom to find samples left on the toilet seat and around, sometimes on the floor. Many of us at various times complained to the manager about the state the toilets were left in, but there wasn't much she could do. Just before I left, it got to about as bad as it could ever get. One girl walked in to find Miss X and left a #2 on the floor. I kid you not. Instead of attempting to clean up after herself, Miss X simply pulled some paper off the roll and covered it up. Much like a cat with a litter tray. It was the most disgusting thing. At this point, our manager had to send an email around to every female on our floor and ask them to consider using the toilet in its intended manner and consider the hygiene and respect of fellow workers. 2 emails along these lines were sent before I left, but it never really changed. The toilet paper thing was one of the worst things I've ever seen in any workplace I've been in. Keep in mind, that we were a Market Data Agency, and were made up of Data Analysts and IT types. Not the kind of place you expect such primitive behaviour.

A few years ago I worked at summer dance camp as a dance specialist. At the first day of every term the other two specialists and I were in charge of placing the kids into groups based on ability. At the end of easch term we'd have a performance for the parents....anyway, I was helping out in tap assessment, and the counsellor who did jazz assessments put all the really good kids into her two groups and left all the beginners for me and the other counsellor. When we confronted her, she denied that she had done anything wrong. Needless to say, at performance time, her groups looked amazing and it made it look like I could barely teach. The next session we got into a huge arguement over this, me trying to be fair in dividing kids, her not...

There was also the fact that she talked to me in a baby voice all summer long, despite the fact that I'm a year older than her...

Oh, I forgot this one: in the office I sometimes work in now, I don't have a formal desk as I'm just a student, so I just get shuffled around to whatever desk is free for the day. A few times I was forced to sit with these four women who constantly complained/bragged about everything...their kdis, their commute, their sex lives...."Today my husband crawled into the shower with me before the kids got up...ooohhh!" I don't need to hear this....or, I swear, every second word out of their mouths would be about how they had to discipline thier kids, or how their kids gave them headaches, etc. They seemes like the worst mothers ever...one woman told this horredous story about how she had called another woman a cunt on the subway (which I doubt was true, but why was she bragging?)

...this was at Christmas time so they brought in tons of cakes, chocolate, etc. And never even offered me a single piece for the entire two weeks I sat there.

I was a receptionist at a hair salon and my "co-receptionist" was pretty cool at first. Then she gradually got very bitter and unhappy--had this whole act going on of "poor me, I don't have any money, I didn't get to go back to school, I have to work here forever" etc.

But the thing is, she kept having kids and bragging how she wanted this enormous family, but then poor me I have to work here and I hate it, I'm so burnt out. And she didn't have any money, but was buying hundreds of dollars worth of roller hockey equipment.

Then she just decided to stop working. It was like "Well, I hate my job and I'm pregnant so I don't have to do anything." I'd come in and have to confirm all the appointments, clean the salon, stock the shelves, etc. But luckily, she'd gotten her Christmas shopping done early! And she was making double the money I was, but I was doing all the work and never doing it good enough. For example:
"Oh, so *your* the one with the crappy handwriting. Looks like it improved. We couldn't read it before."

I had worked there before and was helping them out for some reason. She knew how badly I needed a job and when the position opened up for permenent employment, she literally hired the first person to walk in off the street...but then kept scheduling me to work because "Oh, this girl has soccer all the time and we need you to fill in." Needless to say, that was the end.

I just thought of another one.

I am responsible for sending out all courier shipments at my office. It drives me crazy when people don't understand how courier systems work and want me to send things out in less time then it would take the concord to get there.

I live in Toronto and I just had a woman who didn't understand why I couldn't get her shipment to our UK office in 3 hours.

I once worked with this really smelly guy no one liked but who liked everyone...especially the girls. He was 45 and working at the gift shop at the zoo with a bunch of college students and never understood why no one wanted to talk to him. Aside from smelling like BO, old cigarettes, and bad coffee, he complained a lot about how terrible his life was. Not really a joy to be around on a hot summer day.

Right now the other assistant manager at my store is very lazy and that drives me up the wall. She'll stand and watch while I do work!! She comes in late, leaves early, and talks constantly no matter how much work there is to do. She'd probably consider me the annoying coworker, because when I'm at work I like to stay really busy so the day goes by faster.

Annoying co-workers boy do I have a few of those...

The old pervy guy that follows me to the bathroom all the time. He will call the phone and use his first and last name before asking a question when he had just called 2 mins earlier.

There girl who talks non stop and takes 5 mins to ask a simple question. She also basically takes what adds up an extra 30 min break a day and when confronted as to why she spends so much time off the phone she said its cause she has to pee alot.

Then there is the spagettio guy who has tried to tell me how to do my job before...and well he's just weird.

There is the girl who made accusations that she heard second hand that I knew my mgr had nothing to do with because I was there for the conversation and this girl forwarded this info to HR. She also said that we didnt spend enough personal time with her when she started which was over the very busy holiday season. She is now an admin asst for the director of the dept and has made it known she has access to certain productivity reports etc. It is known that when we send letters that the VP freaks our if the envelope is handwritten and last week our dept mgr brought back and envelope wasnt typed to the person who sent it. I recognized the writing and it was this girl and found an old handwriting sample to prove it. She tries to be all buddy like but I dont trust her a bit.

We also have the tech girl who doesnt know anything and her answer for everything is to reboot.

Yes, and the sad thing is that she has requests like this all the time. "Ship this to Malaysia by 5pm", "Get this to Montreal in an hour". Whatever!
