And the best new band is . . .

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

thought it was good. i dont know, "refreshing" might be the right word.

I linked their page from my own myspace page.

Glad to hear you like it, OOTS!

OK people. They're on the Craig Ferguson show tonight. Here's their bassist's blog at www.myspace.com/mutemath on the taping of the show. It's pretty incredible stuff. Be sure to watch them tonight!

A Day in the Life of Filming The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson: (Roy's view)

Yesterday was one of the most surreal and memorable experiences of my entire life. From waking up to posters of Casablanca and Casino in a 1950s style hotel room in the Hollywood Hills and spinning “The Price is Right” money wheel at the CBS studios to sharing some wonderful pesto pasta with my wife and having her help me pick out clothes for the show, I couldn’t have planned for a more perfect way to tape our national television debut.

Time shifted oddly throughout the day. The early morning minutes before my alarm went off seemed to drag on forever. I stared at Robert De Niro and asked, “Are you looking at me?” 15 minutes turned into hours, just like that melting clock from Dali.

Nausea crept up on me as we pulled into the CBS parking lot since I didn’t know what to expect, but my sickness quickly went away once I met the people from the show. Everyone who worked with the show was extremely sweet and funny. After sound check, I felt excited and ready to give it my all. I wanted to express high energy and passion for our music, as if we were playing one of our own shows.

Right before show time, seconds stretched into long drifting pauses of silence and slow motion, but once we hit the first note, everything sped back up, catching up and overlapping on itself. Darren played so hard he busted a knuckle and bled over his drums; Paul jumped up on his Rhodes and rocked the keytar like only he can; Greg’s tone hit me in the face and punched me in the stomach with beautiful attitude; and my glasses dared not to stay on my face as I witnessed our debut moments race before us. “Chaos” felt shorter than ever. Then, suddenly, it was all over. The waiting and building for our four minutes of performance time screeched to a grinding halt.

Events like these are things I hope never to take for granted because they come and go so preciously.

Stamp it now. : )

Did anyone catch the performance on the Ferguson show? I stayed up and they started the show, and then it was cut off by some golf crap. I was so urinated off. The clip is on myspace.com/mutemath, but I can't view it at work because we have Macs. : ( I'll check it tonight.

What did those of you who saw it think?

There's also another new song on their myspace called "Noticed." It's great too.

The performance is on their website.

I got their album the other day. I really dig their sound and Paul's voice...however I think lyrically they can improve. It seems the last 1-2 minutes of every song they repeat their lyrics aimlessly....ala Oasis. Overall, not bad for a first full length effort.

Interesting.......sounds pretty good, definately influenced by the Police. The verses in Chaos remind me of Message in a Bottle, and the singer's voice has some similar traits to  Sting  who in my opinion is the greatest vocalist of all time.

I'm seeing Mute Math tonight, as well as getting the new CD.

U2 gets sweeps Grammys, getting Album of the Year and I see Mute Math and get their first full-length album. This is among the best 24 hours of my life.

Well, I wasn't able to see them last week when they came around, but I bought the CD from their web site, and it arrived yesterday.

I like the album a lot, but I'm unsure if it's better than the EP, which I think is fantastic. Let's see after a few more listens.

Awesome. To tell you the truth, I was the same way with the new album. I like it a lot more after a few dozen listens though. I'll be honest, the production on the EP seems more focused and tighter, at least the vision of it. The album is good though. It'd be great if Butch Vig got a hold of it or Trent Reznor. It's still good stuff though. I really like "You Are Mine" and "Picture."

The concert was incredible. I wrote a review to submit to Relevant magazine, but my disc doesn't work anymore. The photos on the myspace by photojs were done by a friend of mine.

I saw them for the second time last night in S.F. and it was better than the last time. This is one of the best live bands I have ever seen. In fact, I think U2 are the only ones better than Mute Math, and I've seen a lot of shows. They're just incredible. It will be a tragedy if they don't make it huge. They just seem to have that special "it" factor that you only see with a few bands. That drummer, Darren King, is unbelievable!

I completely and honestly agree with you. They'll be huge. That's what's fun about being a fan now, you know? I'm glad to hear you're into them this much.
