You could try getting a Zoom multi-effect pedal. That's what I use. They're usually quite reasonably priced, I think i got mine for about 80 buckaroonis.

Awww don't feel left out JanuaryStar.

^^ yeah, i'd start with a Zoom Milti-effect or a Digitch Rp-80 or Rp-100. I had the Rp-100 and it's great to start off.
