the laugh alone made me want to shoot her

I know someone who's audition may be shown tonight. He auditioned in Louisville (We live in Michigan.). He made the top 36, and I think that's all he's allowed to say right now.

Me, too. Those were the only two I even liked tonight. I wished they'd shown a few of the gals they sent through - all we saw of them was "you're going to Hollywood!"

That's what I was going to say. There was a cute guy in that bunch, too, I would have liked to have heard sing.

My favorite of the night was, no surprise, my, friend Matt. He sang "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin DeGraw. I'm so proud of him.

.... did I forget to turn back to Fox in time to catch him after a commercial break? I totally don't remember hearing anyone sing that. (Not that I could pick the song out of a line up or anything.) Can you give me more specifics?

I'm drawing a blank! :(

Not part of Season 8, but didn't feel like dredging up last season's thread, or starting a new one

Idol David Cook to hit colleges on U.S. tour | Entertainment | Reuters

David Cook going on tour:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "American Idol" champ David Cook is going back to school, announcing a U.S. tour on Friday that will take him to colleges around the nation.

Cook's 37-date tour will begin on February 13 at Florida State University in Tallahassee and end on April 25 at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma, AOL music Web site Entertainment News, Gossip, Celebrity News, Movie News, Music News, TV News, Celebrity Photos - PopEater said.

Most of the concerts will take place at colleges, including the University of Mississippi and the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. But Cook will also play at Seneca Niagara Casino in New York State and Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cook worked as a bartender while trying to make it in the business before winning "American Idol" in May 2008. He said he was keen to get back to his roots and promote the tradition of college tours.

"There's something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows. So many amazing acts used to do it, so it's nice to be able to bring that ideal back, in some small way," Cook said.

"Besides, touring on a bus beats what we used to do, which was cram five guys into a 7 passenger van for one show, 13 hours away," he added.

The rock singer's self-titled debut album came out in November and won the No. 3 spot on the Billboard charts. It is holding at No. 10 this week.

Cook said the inspiration behind the tour is superstar Irish rock band U2, whom he saw perform at the Super Bowl in 2002. "It was just very poignant," Cook said. "Not overdone, but definitely powerful." :D

Ok, last night in Jacksonville was Snooze City. There wasn't anybody that stood out. Tonight was a lot better. First off, David Osmond is HOT.:combust: And he's talented. I liked his voice, very soulful. I was also a fan of the girl who sang "You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse. I can't remember her name. I was also a fan of Megan, the single mom with the tattoo. She has one of the most unique voices I've ever heard on AI. I also really, really liked Rose, the hippie girl that lost her parents. There was something really raw and unpolished about her vocals that I loved. She's kind of like a female version of my future husband, Jason Castro, from last season, at least in that respect. I thought tonight was really good.

Was anyone else really bothered last night when they asked that one girl to come back after she'd tarted herself up? I don't remember exactly how they phrased it (something about "star quality"), but YUCK.

I know this show is all about finding pretty people they can make into pop stars, but I prefer it when they're not so disgustingly blatant about it.

I didn't like the girl that sang Amy Winehouse. Decent voice, but she did too much of an imitation of Amy Winehouse, with all the same little vocal inflections as in the actual song. Plus, she just kind of bugged me in general. She had great hair, though. I'll give her that!

I did like Rose quite a bit - how can you not like her? I don't dig the barefoot thing, but that's my own issue with feet (*shudder*). I thought as a singer she was ... okay. Nice tone to her voice, and I think with some training she could be really good. But when she was singing, there were a few times it sounded like she was going off key, and that made me cringe a bit. I think she can do better, though, so I'm glad they sent her through.

I was annoyed by the whole Osmond thing - come on, dude. You're an Osmond. Do you really need to come on and hog the whole Idol thing? Don't you have your own connections? Then they talked about how he had MS and was in a wheelchair, and I caved. (But not on the singing - I thought he was a boring singer.)

I couldn't figure out why Simon was so enamored with her. She was cute and all but not very interesting based on what we saw.

 I had to get over my feet thing once I started doing Pilates some years ago. Now I have to pamper them and make them pretty but I honestly don't see how the teachers can stand looking at (let alone touching *horrors*) some of those unpampered monstrous-looking things.

What I don't understand is why did he go on AI?

THANK YOU! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was weird. Maybe he's trying to break out of the Osmond mold .... although then he shouldn't have sung Christian pop for his audition.

Wasn't there some other guy who sang two songs, weird song choices  Like one of them was Raffi or something? And I agree on the whole Osmond thing. You've got built in connections right there.

Bring on Hollywood week so bikini girl can go down in flames with annoying laugh girl (the one that was a model, actress, singer, writer, window washer, etc....)
