Katherine should win.

Taylor bugs me.

I haven't picked the right winner since Kelly Clarkson though.

I picked Clay over Rubin. I didn't watch the year Fantasia won. I picked Bo over Carrie.

Same with me!! I have never gotten one right but Kelly...This year I wanted Chris to win!!:banghead:

Ruben winning over Clay is the one time during this show's history I thought it was rigged. But I've moved on.

I got a little misty when Elliott left tonight, but I wasn't too surprised. Bye, Elliott. You're awesome!

So I guess I have to root for the underdog next week ... Katharine! It won't do any good, but I promised to root and vote for whichever finalist who wasn't Taylor!

Plus, only one more week of having to sit through that intolerable "Bad Day" song. Whoot!

Edit: I just watched Tuesday night's performances, and have to say that Katharine's "Over the Rainbow" was enough to get her into the finals, and made up for every off-key or oversung note she sung in previous weeks. That was beautiful, and indicative of the style she should be singing.

See, young singers? Sometimes less is more! Loud is not the new good! :sexywink:

Keeping my fingers crossed for Elliott to get a contract of some sort.. He appears to be a genuinely good guy.

:)

Am I the only sap who got misty when they showed Elliot's homecoming? He seemed so genuinely overwelmed and appreciative of all the festivities...

and his mom in the car during the parade... Wow, very touching....seems like a real nice family.

PS - I think it's a bit over-dramatic to have parades for someone who didn't win anything yet on a reality tv show. Parades should be reserved for soldiers and major holidays etc

I am positive that, if they would have shown these homecoming parades on Tuesday, Elliott would have gotten a lot of sympathy votes and he would have edged Kat (who was stone cold in her visit to LA... no wonder, she basically had no one to cheer her).

In any event, I think that Kat will need to strap herself to a dance pole, sing a soft-core porn version of 'Fever', and do a full frontal striptease to beat Taylor next week. :D

Okay...a serious question for Chris fans. I'm not trying to be snotty, I just really want to know.

What makes Chris better than Scott Stapp (Creed) or Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) and the like? Because it seems to me that most people here dislike Creed and Nickelback...yet, there are many Chris fans here, and Chris reminds me of that sort of stuff.

You're not alone. It was very touching to see how much support he had. He's a very nice fellow. I was really hoping he'd make it into the finals.. but he has a great voice.. he'll be fine.

As for next week... GO TAYLOR

I would not consider myself a Chris fan, but definetly think that he was better than Elliott, Taylor or Kat.

Despite what many people say, Chris was able to sing different styles of music and, yet, make it entertaining. Some people have called him boring and repetitive but, yet, his best performances, in my opinion, were with non-heavy metal songs like "Suspicious Minds" or "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman".

I do not know, however, whether I would buy a Chris CD or go to his concert, since, as you correctly point out, it would be more like a Nickelback/Creed/Pearl Jam fest. However, he certainly kept American Idol entertaining and added a different flavor to the songs heard every night.

When he was gone, all I got left was 9 mellow/soft core/try-not-to-fall-asleep songs. It was all like a neverending continuity of boredom.

I liked Chris, I liked his voice. When he performed a non-Creed type song, I thought he was great. To me, his voice wasn't as harsh/forced/screaming like than Kroeger or Stapp.

I can envision Chris to be more like Ed Kowalchuck (spelling?) from Live or an American version of Liam Gallegher from Oasis.

PS - I'm not a huge supporter for Chris, but I can see some differences between his style (or potential style) than Creed/Nickleback etc

I liked Chris, and I dislike Creed and Nickelback. The truth is that if Chris had showed up on MTV, not American Idol, doing his Scott Stapp thing, I would have disliked him, too, although if he had showed up doing something more like Ed Kowalchuk/Live as Numb suggests, I'd have liked him more.

But I dislike the kind of singers and music that are typical of Americal Idol more than I dislike just about any kind of rock, and that includes Creed and Nickelback. Therefore, Chris was a refreshing change for me on American Idol compared to the usual people. It doesn't mean I'd buy a record; I've just enjoyed American Idol more since the rocker dudes (Constantine, Bo, Chris) showed up. I also think Chris was simply the best singer and the most marketable regardless of the kind of music he performed, and he seemed like a good guy, the least forgettable and the only one with a hint of star quality.

Well I actaully really liked Creed when they first came out but then Stapp turned into such a tool in the public light that I turned to not liking them. I also liked Nickleback until Clear Channel played that "worst song lyric award for 'what the hell is on Joey's head' song 1,00,000 times a day.

I think they thing about Chris was that he was different. He had the raw rocker sound not the bubbly gummy lame sound most of the contestants this year had. I think he really has a gorgeous voice. Also when the first showed himt he did a background on him saying that he took in 2 kids that were not his own and became a father to them and worked in a dead end job for a long time and his wife was super supportive...blah blah. I think this carried him through and made people notice him. Oh yeah-he was good too.

Why wasn't the Governator there to greet Kat! I sure will miss that smooth soulful voice of Elliott's  I'm voting like a mad woman next week for Taylor!

U2@NYC - HA! Loved your CAPS LOCK post from the other page.

As for no one being there for Kat, Adam Corolla was talking about that on his radio show this morning. He claimed it was because in LA, no one cares. You have Julia Roberts in line behind you at the 7-11. A finalist on a reality show isn't going to count for much.

One final note on Taylor and his annoying "SOUL PATROL" business. GolightlyGirl (I think that's who it was) said she liked it because it was a nice acknowledgment of his fans.

Yeah, it's nice to see the contestants acknowledge or thank their fans. I don't get that from Taylor. To me, his constant yammering of "SOUL PATROL" is less about "thank you, all my fans" and more about "I AM SO SOULFUL! LOOK HOW FULL OF SOUL I AM!"

Hm ... I'm finding it hard to do Taylor's voice in anything but capital letters. Hey, Taylor is Owen Meany!

Again, I agree with you ljclary. He seemed to have control & a direction with his voice. Also, there was a depth with him, kind of like what I hear in some Verve and Jeff Buckley songs.

:lmao:

I did think it was strange the "reception" Kat (didn't) have compared to the other two. Like corianderstern said, nobody cares. I like her voice, most of the time but there is something about her that makes me go  Maybe she thinks she "deserves" it instead of earning it, like Elliott did. He was the most sincere. You could see the appreciation in his eyes, and he wore his heart on his sleeve. I cried and I knew before hand from the east coast feed :shifty:I'm a cheater, so what!. I still can't believe the voting was that close. Any one of them could have gone home, even Taylor. I could only get thru 5-10 times by phone, but I did text message.

I told my daughter we should abstain from voting next week, because I'd vote Taylor by default, and she'd vote Kat. She didn't like that idea. But she can't use my phone to text message, so :hmm:

and yeah, I liked Chris as well. I liked the rocker part of him - didn't care for the screaming at times. It just seemed he was a little monotone at times. Yes, we voted for him almost the whole time, down to the final 4. At that point, I figured he was probably a lock, whereas I thought Elliott needed more support, and I just love his true soulful voice. All the best to you Elliott

I've been a Taylor fan since the get go (all of Interference, "No, really?"), but damn it, if that darling bubbeleh, Elliott Yamin, didn't seriously grow on me. He's a humble, genuine, and sweet gentleman who sings like an angel. It was wonderful to see him grow as a performer this season and get more comfortable with his gift.

I told myself I would remain stoic when Elliott got eliminated last night, but seeing his classy exit and wonderful Mamaleh Yamin in the audience really brought out the water works. I didn't cry; I sobbed!!! Please let there be a label and producers who will nurture and support Elliott's talent. Please. I mean it.

Other notes on last nights show...

The pimpmercial had me laughing out loud. My favorite of all pimpmercials.

I loved the footage of the contestants' homecomings. Taylor's energized me and Elliott's touched me. Okay, Katharine's was just kind of meh to me. Her dog is cute, though. I love fur babies!

Ribs and pancakes for breakfast, Taylor? Eesh, your cholestral level must be through the roof!

And I'm totally squeeing. I just bought my AI tour tickets through Ticketmaster. They should be e-mailed to me shortly. I can't wait for the show. The last time I was this excited was when I saw U2 and a reunited Police on the Amnesty International Tour back in 1986.

 It's not over-dramatic for Richmond...for once we're actually getting positive publicity around the nation as opposed to the attention we get which is usually about having one of the highest murder rates in the nation

Now, Go Taylor!!!

i have a game!

there's a *really* great, bitchy column that's written for The Advocate on AI. i came across this article just today, and it was written just before Chris was eliminated

the article, among other things, has some fun, gossipy info to share:

[q] got one more spy. This time a friend who spent some time in the vicinity of the Final Four. So here are four things this person told me. See if you can line them up to the correct Idol...

1. One is weird but fairly relaxed and easy to get along with.
2. One is arrogant and full of her/himself.
3. One is as sweet and decent as a human being can be.
4. One is, in the words of my friend, “a total pain.”

Let the match game begin.

Oh, and P.S. Three of them are major chain smokers.

[/q]

so have at it, Interland. who is who on the list? contestants are Chris, Katherine, Taylor, and Elliot.
