Louis Armstrong played trumpet, jazz n00b.

Bird or Coltrane, perhaps, on sax?

He's had time to master the sax, piano, and violin while in Music Heaven.

But yeah, Coltrane ftw.

Best R&B/Baby-Making Music Band Ever:

Vocals: Marvin Gaye
Backing Vocals: Barry White
Trumpet: Miles Davis
Sax: Charlie "Bird" Parker
Drums: Curtis Mayfield

In addition to those already stated...

Bonham, George Harrison, Janis Joplin, Elvis...

Lennon would still be my number 1.

Definitely Coltrane.
I ought to add Thelonious Monk to the general list as well.

How could you not have heard of Smith's suicide (murder?)? Double knife stabs to the heart? It was the most EMO thing ever.
