Bob Stinson

Stinson wasn't 1/10 the guitar player that Paul is. All you have to do is listen to Pleased to Meet Me, after Bob got the boot but before Slim Dunlap joined to see how amazing Paul could play when he had to do everything. Bob couldn't pull off solos like that in a million years. Hell, just listen to their concurrent solos on Johnny's Gonna Die off Sorry Ma and you can hear the difference right from the beginning of the band's career.

They should have continued as a trio.

Sad what happened to Bob, but he was dead weight.

Dougie Hopkins -guitarist for the Gin Blossoms.

Just as one of the great 90's bands, the Gin Blossoms, were finally being rewarded with commercial success, Hopkins alcoholism and depression forced him to quit the band, and he suicided a few months later. Tragic, because New Miserable Experience went on to become a post-REM jangle-rock classic album.

The Gin Blossoms still chruned out some miserable tunes, and reformed last year to release the cracking Major Lodge Victory
