How did you become a Radiohead loonie like me all of a sudden?

Well you see, I says to myself, I says, Zootles is pretty hot and a cool dude, so maybe I should raid his CD collection

no really, over the summer I went to my friend's house and put a shitload of music on my iPod from his computer, which was OK. (bad, I know. but laugh anyway, damnit.) Upon first listen (and this was my first Radiohead experience, ever) I was extremely impressed, Karma Police was/is perfect  so 'bout a month ago I got The Bends and couldn't stop listening to it, catchy as hell, a nice straightforward 90's rock album. Then not too long ago I got Kid A, the first time I listened to it I was sorta like "um. wtf?" but the more I listened to it the more I loved it and by the fourth time or so I decided it was one of the greatest albums every made by anyone  soooo I bought Amnesiac and now Radiohead is my new favourite band (U2 is a level above favourite. nothing can ever replace them).

There's my Radiohead story that I'm sure everyone cared about a whole lot because I'm so important and interesting and people just don't talk enough about Radiohead. Sorry for the derail.

Another album to add to my list is "Lifted or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground" by Bright Eyes. Really fucking amazing album, especially for someone so young! I'm seeing Bright Eyes this Sunday

65daysofstatic - The Fall of Math
65daysofstatic - One Time for All Time
God is an Astronaut - All is Violent, All is Bright
Detwiije - Would You Rather Be Followed By Forty Ducks For The Rest Of Your Life

I have to add:
God is an Astronaut - The End of the Beginning

their first album, I just got it and it's amazing

Hmm.

U2 - The Unforgettable Fire
U2 - Pop
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut
Radiohead - Kid A
Radiohead - OK Computer
Echo And The Bunnymen - Crocodiles

If you're wondering why Achtung Baby isn't up here, well here's the thing - while AB is my favourite album of all time, I do get tired of it every now and then. If I'm listening to my music on random, I'll often hit skip if I get any Achtung song other than Zoo Station, Love Is Blindness, and Acrobat.

What albums refuse to let you go... that you listen to over and over again for days, weeks and months on end?

Right now for me it's BRMC's latest album Howl.

I am about 7 years late, but I just "discovered" In the Aeroplane over the Sea and it's been on heavy rotation.

Achtung Baby for sure. I'm always coming back to it after I put it on the shelf for a while.

Kid A has been locked in my mp3 player for over a month...amazingly transportive. If I'm ever abducted by aliens, I'm insisting they play this as background music.

ATYCLB. I find it to be very cathartic when I'm in a contemplative state of mind, like when a family member is sick, or I'm thinking about my future, etc. It was also released when my grandfather had a stroke, so maybe I subconciously connect the music to that moment where hearing new U2 music helped a lot.

POP. I think it's Bono's most personal effort, lyrically. It's stark, honest, and questioning. Plus, it has Discotheque!! Those Boomchas will hold me hostage forever..

HTDAAB. It's always in heavy rotation. I find it's the perfect soundtrack to what's going on right now in the world. The lyrics are just as great as the music, and it's got a kind of political bent that hasn't been in a U2 album for a long time.

I don't know anything about them...I feel like I should though. Song recommendations to get me started?

oh well, it's hard, I like all, but maybe: "All is Violent, All is Bright", "Forever Lost, "Fire Flies and Empty Skies", "Suicide by Star", "Remembrance Day" (possibly my favorite), "The End of the Beginning", "Ascend to Oblivion", "Twilight", etc
