album of the year

certain albums really make me think of certain times of my life, and have very specific memories associated with them. i was trying to think what albums correspond with what year. if you had to say what is the one album that most sums up each year? it doesnt necessarily have to have been released in that year, but it just was what you were listening to and what your memories are tied to (there are lots more than one album, but the overall most significant for that year) . for me:

1991: Soundgarden- Badmotorfinger
1992: U2- Achtung Baby (also last month and half of 1991)
1993: U2-Zooropa (primus-pork soda)
1994: Soundgarden- Superunknown
1995: Primus- Tales From the Punchbowl
1996: RATM- Evil Empire
1997- U2-Pop / Tool -Aenima (helmet-aftertaste)
1998- Radiohead- Ok Computer
1999- Queens OF the Stone Age
2000- Radiohead- Kid A / A Perfect Circle. Mer de Noms
2001- U2-ATYCLB (at the drive-in relationship of command)
2002- Queens Of The Stone Age- Songs For the Deaf (may change)

that sounds pretty much like me, save for the pearl jam and oasis stuff.

from 1995-1997 i didn't listen to a lot of new music, mainly cuz everyone i liked didn't release anything. so i used that opportunity to buy really old stuff and be able to afford police's message in a box.

i probably agree with the above (given U2 gets it for their prospective year) and I wanted to say that 2002 is a little premature to already name an album of the year since we still have 5.5 months left.

Also for those who left out 1996, I would reccommend No Doubt Tragic Kingdom
