I used to live in Canberra for a few years, which is not called "The Bush Capital" without reason. Dead wallabies and 'roos and birds are a common sight along the major roads, and after the bushfires went through in... when was that, '02? Anyway, suddenly there were kangaroos EVERYWHERE, hopping down suburban streets and terrorising people.
(Well, I only heard of one woman being terrorised, and that 'roo was probably not well.)
The 'roos we'd get in Tallai were generally pretty timid. They'd hop away pretty quickly if anybody was about. Not sure I got any photos of them; maybe one or two. Think I have a few of wallabies. Though back in those days, I had a film camera I rarely used and that was it.

But I suppose all the 'roos after the bushfires were pretty freaked out. We had some scrub fires in Tallai, one that came alarmingly close to our place (from two houses' up the road, they evacuated people), but never anything major and the wildlife weren't too disrupted by it.

I overheard one American telling his friend that he was so disappointed that the first kangaroo he ever saw was roadkill.

Edit: Or a photoshop, on closer inspection.

I've certainly bought enough of them to send to my friends overseas! They love them... well, the female ones do, anyway. Their respective husbands or boyfriends tend to cross their legs and look away quickly, from what I'm told!

Although at least one guy I know in the USA keeps his roleplaying dice in one.

Erk, you just reminded me of the dream I had last night. There were people from work in it...!

Hell, it's gone 11pm... do I heat up the taco stuff, eat it cold, or just not bother? I wanna get a decent sleep tonight...
Oh no - I had an awesome dream. I don't know how to explain most of it to you guys, since it involved me going back in time to the late 80s to visit my cousins (which for some reason lived in an insanely large mansion with a lot of underground toilets, an enormous backyard, and dozens of rooms. However, it seemed to be only one storey).

But, the part of the dream you'd find interesting is that U2 were at the mansion, all Lovetown era. I think they were just invited as anyone else would have been. They generally stuck together, though we stood on a large aquaduct like monument in the backyard and sang Ticket to Ride, arms in arms. I am not sure what made me dream this, but it was certainly a good experience at the time.

There were similar parts of the dream that I recall vividly, too.

I think the main issue was that all their food had been burned everywhere except Canberra itself...

How many ancient Greek soldiers do you dream about on average each night, Bonnie?

Could be worse. He could've been raped by a wallaby and been left speaking Australian.
