It's hard to rank Beatles' songs... but my all time number one is

1. Within You Without You

And then 4 more that I can't rank in a particular order but are songs I love equally :)

Get Back
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
All You Need Is Love

ooohhh, yeah, add All You Need is Love to my list...

so I'm up to:

In My Life
Dear Prudence
All You Need Is Love
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away

:hmm:

I thought if did this in steps, that I could successfully compile a Top 5 Beatles Songs list. Seeing as there is hardly a more difficult Top 5 list to make, I thought that that would make it easier. So I set out to rank the Top 5 Beatles songs written by each of Lennon/McCartney/Harrison. I got through selecting and ranking McCartney and Harrison's songs relatively quickly, though it was still hard to eliminate some of those songs. But then I got to Lennon and I just couldn't get it under 20, let alone ranking them. And even if I could, choosing 5 from the final 15 would be just as difficult. So this is the beset I can do

Well, I wouldn't personally have had a problem with that

:lmao: me either  in no order:

Two of Us: If I ever get married I'd want to get married to this song

While My Guitar Gently Weeps: perfect.

Drive My Car: the song that got me into the Beatles

A Day in the Life: Combines two songs into one. Brilliant. Happiness is a Warm Gun is similar in this respect and if I could pick more songs it would definitely be on the list.

Across the Universe: The version on Let it Be Naked is so simple and beautiful.

My favourite album is the White Album, but I think Let It Be is vastly underrated. I like it more than Abbey Road and I like Rubber Soul more than Sgt. Pepper's. So I guess I'm weird or something.

across the universe
help! - except, oddly, i don't much care for the beatles version. i actually like acoustic covers better...the beatles version is too fast, the melody is so beautiful this shouldn't have been a "rock" song.
hey 7ude
yesterday
hello goodbye

this is virtually impossible.

no order:
rain
we can work it out
here comes the sun
eight days a week
she said she said - tell me why (tie)

as a rule, i loathe covers of beatles songs (only exceptions i can think of that i didn't hate were steve earle's cover of "i'm looking through you" and maybe the eddie vedder cover of "you've got to hide your love away" ), what recordings of acoustic "help" covers are out there?

dammit, i forgot hello goodbye on my list. and in my life. and i will. and mother nature's son. and i'll follow the sun. and you can't do that. and carry that weight. and...you get the picture.

This is too hard. What would be easier if you asked for our top 50, and even then there would be some unlucky exclusions...

1. Strawberry Fields Forever
2. Please Please Me
3. Piggies
4. A Day in the Life
5. I'll Be On My Way

(Very!) Honorable Mentions:

Magical Mystery Tour
Something
The End
Lovely Rita
In My Life
Good Night
Mother Nature's Son
