Fellow Americans (or non-Americans who actually open this thread and want to respond),

What music/songs do you think are good for listening to on the 4th? I'd like to hear your opinions, whether they're obvious or not so obvious.

Here are some I've thought of:

Jimi Hendrix - 'Star Spangled Banner'
U2 - 'Heartland'
U2 - '4th of July'
Bruce Springsteen - 'Born in the USA'
Moby - 'Fireworks'
Morrissey - 'America Is Not the World'

Please, someone mention Neil Diamond

"America", a good but obscure song by Paul Kantner from 1986.

"America" by Simon and Garfunkel

"In America" by CDB

"Suite Madame Blue" by Styx

"Saturday in the Park" Chicago

Have a happy 4th of July

American Pie - Don Maclean (under no circumstances should the Madonna version be played)

Woodstock - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

This Land Is Your Land - Woody Guthrie or Bruce Springsteen

Small Town - John Mellencamp

Tennessee Plates - John Hiatt

I Left My Heart In San Francisco - Tony Bennett

New York State of Mind - Billy Joel

They Come To America!... Neil Friggin Diamond.

Drifters of the world, have a safe weekend.

I would mention American Woman, but a band from Winnipeg doesn't count.

R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A. - John Mellencamp
The Hands That Built America - U2
Love on the Rocks - Neil Diamond
I know it's not exactly relevant, but I thought we needed some more Neil!

 to James Brown's Living in America
