As I was driving home last night and flipping stations on the radio and this song called "1985" by some band called Bowling for Soup came on the radio. The song made me chuckle ... as did the band's name.

1985
by Bowling For Soup

Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husbands a CPA
Her dreams went out the door
When she turned twenty four
Only been with one man
What happen to her plan?

She was gonna be an actress
She was gonna be a star
She was gonna shake her ass
On the hood of white snake?s car
Her yellow SUV is now the enemy
Looks at her average life
And nothing has been alright

Springstein, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she?s uncool
But she still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woohoo
(1985)
Woohoo

She's seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink
Even Saint Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to wham
Not a big Limp Biscuit fan
Thought she?d get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where?s the mini-skirt made of snake skin
And who?s the other guy singing in Van Halen
When did reality become T.V.
What ever happen to sitcoms, game shows
(on the radio there was)

Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she?s uncool
But she still preoccupied

Woohoo

She hates time make it stop
When did Motley Crew become classic rock?
And when did Ozzy become an actor?
Please make this stop
Stop!
And bring back

How silly of me ... you're right ... it's just that soup is more enjoyable to me when there is a chill in the air.

I was very sad when this soup place near my officed stopped offering matzo ball soup. It was my favorite.

I've never heard this song before, but I'm a big fan of soup (and 80s nostalgia!

I haven't heard or seem this song...yet. I thought this was going to be a thread about what were you doing on the night/day of Liveaid. I kinda have that on my mind lately. I hope someone buys me the DVD's. I've dropped enough hints.
My hub's band had a song that reminds me a bit of that and mentions U2. I don't like that song either. It's called Paula Was A Punk Rocker...ugh.
we have a friend who does a solo guitar act and I heard a guy one night say, " Danny..single-handedly keeping the 80's alive."
The hair dos were bad back then....crikes:eek: I think I had a perm :lmao:
I'm looking forward to Live Aid being available anyway :hyper:

I'm disappointed there was no seinfeld reference from Bonochick.

What happened?

:sexyfrown:

I got a big chuckle out of those lyrics because I graduated from high school in 1985. I understand what it's like to realize the music of your youth is now considered "retro."

I LOVE that song! heh, my brother pointed it out to me...I get a kick out of it everytime! Bowling for Soup aren't too bad...I love bowling and soup can be a great meal (mmm...chicken & stars  ).

Rock on, 1985
