yeah it's the single. did you get to see the whole video?? i only caught a clip of it and it looks pretty good. other good songs on the new cd are 'empty' and 'police and the private', so maybe try those.

when my family finally got our first cd player back in '89, the 'smile' ep is one of the first cd's i bought.

i just looked it up on amazon, and it says the release date is october 1990, but i swear on my life that i bought it when we went to los angeles for a vacation in the summer of '89. weird.

good stuff. i absolutely adored that cd until the stone roses came along.

I love Shoegaze, I don't know if anyone else does these days, though I've seen a bit of revival. Other good albums, Kitchens of Distinctions "Death of Cool" - hard to find but wonderful, and the "Drive that Fast" single off of "Strange Free World" is amazing, Adorable's "Against Perfection", Chapterhouse's "Whirlpool" and Spacemen 3's "Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To" - you can take that title however you wish.

If you like "Dare", I assume you also like the Happy Mondays, if not, go for them as well. Sadcore like the Red House Painters and American Music Club is also handy if you're feeling a bit moody and need to break from it. Sheesh, I don't really know.
