I'm enjoying these songs. I thought it was a poor year, until I put this list together.

Mimosa: Craig Martin Smith
Country Girl: Primal Scream
All The Roadrunning: Mark Knopfler And Emmylou Harris
The Funeral: Band Of Horses
Shallow: South
Gyzmkid: The Velvet Teen
Saving Grace: Tom Petty
Don't Get Me Down (Come On Over Here): The Walkmen
When The Lights Go Out In London: The Charlatans
Why Not Nothing?: Richard Ashcroft
Shut Your Eyes: Snow Patrol
Tricks Of The Trade: The Wonder Stuff
The Pot: Tool
Unemployable: Pearl Jam
Witchcraft: Wolfmother
1,000 Seconds: The Secret Machines
Tell Me Baby: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Supermassive Black Hole: Muse

These are all on my 2000-2006 playlist, pure awesome:

Athlete - Forest Fire
Band of Horses - Our Swords
Built to Spill - Conventional Wisdom
David Gilmour - A Pocketful of Stones
Keane - Is It Any Wonder?
Matt Costa - Cold December

Pearl Jam - Inside Job
People in Planes - Falling by the Wayside
Red Hot Chili Peppers - If
Richard Butler - Maybe Someday
Rock Kills Kid - Hide Away
Snow Patrol - You Could Be Happy
The Strokes - You Only Live Once

Yeah I'll need some time too but the ones that sprang to mind immediately were:

Pearl Jam - 'Unemployable'
AFI - 'Love Like Winter'
James Dean Bradfield - 'That's No Way To Tell A Lie'

Favorites of 2006, eh

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion

Snow Patrol - Open Your Eyes
Sigur Ros - Hafsol - from the Sæglópur EP
Secret Machines - 1000 Seconds

The Raconteurs - Store Bought Bones
Keane - Is It Any Wonder
Gnarls Barkley - Just A Thought
The Flaming Lips - Free Radicals
Jenny Lewis - The Charging Sky
KT Tunstall - Other Side Of The World
Muse - Supermassive Black Hole

I guess that's about it right there. Obviously there are some great tracks I passed up, but judging from this list, I think the year is going pretty well.

sufjan - chicago acoustic
the diableros - olympic island

The Devin Townsend Band - Notes From Africa
OSI - Sure You Will and Free
Pure Reason Revolution - Goshens Remains and The Twyncyn/Trembling Willows

Not that good a year yet, but I have my hopes, especially as some good releases are coming. Most notably Blackfield's second album.

What are the rules on sharing music/MP3's/posting links, etc.?
The moderators at Interference.com would like to remind you that the trading of any commercially released song is strictly against the rules. This also is also true for any song of which an artist has not authotized it's reproduction/distribution.

Therefore, we cannot allow people to use the forums as grounds to trade commercially released songs, and/or anything that imposes on the copyright of an artist's material.

we can't have 'active links' to copyrighted music, compositions, etc.

"The Big Guns" - Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins
"To Me You Are A Work Of Art" - Morrissey
"Intimate Secretary" - The Raconteurs

thom yorke-cymbal rush

radiohead-videotape, 15 step, arpeggi, 4 minute warning, down is the new up

as you can see my tastes in new music aren't very adventurous

Why is everyone excluding Daniel Powter from their Best of '06 lists??
  • You had a bad day
    The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
    You had a bad daaaaaay

Here in Australia we (or I) don't get exposed to a lot of good music. The charts are absolute SHIT dominated by crappy Idols who can't sing, tryhard rappers who can't make it in America and idiots who fart into a microphone, give it a beat and get a number one song.

Save for:

RHCP - Dani California
Snow Patrol (I think?) had a good song but I can't remember the name of it.
And some Eskimo Joe song.
