Pop Candy's 100 People of the Year!

Feelin' geeky? Compare this year's list with lists from 2000 and 2001.

As usual, this annual list may offer some surprises. For instance, you won't find J. Lo and Affleck here; ditto for DiCaprio or Dr. Phil. Instead, you'll see a compilation of pop-culture people I felt made the year worth living. Some list statistics:

? No. of people under 25: 16
? No. of dead people: 2
? No. of folks who go by one name (? la Cher): 8
? No. of men named Steve: 1

4. Bono. As much of a patriot as a rock star, Bono should be recognized for bringing his concerns about Africa's AIDS epidemic to the world's attention. Between goodwill trips and impassioned speeches, The Fly joined U2 in promoting another lovely "Best Of" compilation, too.
